Just before Christmas Rovers announced to City of Bristol council their intention to sell the memorial stadium, my querie is is why now ? The Sale of the mem saga has been dragging on for years or is this a partof a plan B that is already in operation with perhaps the fabled consortium bid ? Could it be Landsdown buying it back for the Rugby , or perhaps something to do with the UWE and sport? The other thing to consider is that I have also read before Christmas that the Memorial stadium site has now had a condition put in place that it should remain as a site for sports and recreation so where would that leave Sainsburys if the appeal judges overturns the original verdict and force them to honour the contract? That means they have a piece of real estate that can't have a supermarket on it , all very confusing this situation perhaps someone in the know can answer these posers?

It's something to do with it being recently made an "Asset of Community Value". Apparently before you sell (which hopefully we will to Sainsbury) you have to give the people that applied for it to be an ACV the right to buy before anyone else. You also have to give them 6 weeks (I think) to decide. So I think it's just in preparation for what comes next. Either that or we need to sell to pay the Wonga loan and Sainsburys' fees (eek!). I think you'll find you've actually answered your own question on the points I've highlighted?

So the question is, did anyone submit a notice of intention before the 25th January? I have no idea how we can find out unless you know someone at BCC with access to that info.

I have absolutely no knowledge of the acv process but shouldn't that info be available to the public? Certainly would have thought it should be available to you if you are a part of the community that the asset sits within - ie live locally.
