I am trying to contact former Rovers goalkeeper Laurie Taylor who played for Chelmsford City from 1970 until 1976, following his release by Rovers.
I would like a feature done on him by one of my contributors for the next edition of may magazine on City's history.
If anyone can help could you please e-mail me at chelmsfordcityhistory@googlemail,com.
Many thanks
David Selby Historian Chelmsford City Football Club

Many thanks.
Always had a soft spot for Rovers as City's first ever game was against Bristol Rovers Reserves in a Southern League game in August 1938. Charlie Hurst played for Rovers and later played for City. His son of course turned out to be an even better footballer!

Last September came second in a local golf competition, from memory he was a postaman for many years in this area.

i cant help you with this I am afraid but your entry reminded me of one of seeing your team in a cup tie in the 70's and a player called Eddie Dilsworth who had so much skill that 40 years later his name still lives with me . In one move he picked up the ball and juggled it all of the way down the wing without it touching the ground before crossing it . I have never seen it done since and wondered why he never played at a higher level
