Yes as you say the possibilities are almost endless, i just don't think they are in the business of selling assets, I do think they will use it in some form or another, what we will have to wait and see. Whatever happens I don't think they give a flying fig about Sainsbury's, as an aside and just a feeling, I don't think sainsbury's would have got that contract past them either. Talking of lawyers, Al Qadi's international law firm seem jolly pleased with the deal. Mike Turner, Corporate partner at Taylor Wessing added: “Football clubs as an asset class present their own particular challenges but this is a transaction on which it has been a pleasure to work. Bristol Rovers will no doubt make exceptional strides due to the Al Qadi family’s involvement and commitment and we wish all parties every success going forward.”

We currently train at Cribbs, didn't Clifton Rugby Club announce plans a few years ago? Maybe we could have a tie in with them and AXA (who I think own the sports facilities we train on) on facilities. I believe the site is up for sale at the moment (AXA, not clifton) as the club house is losing money hand over fist

The training site is owned by Aviva and it is operated by a registered charity called Cribbs Sports & Social Club, providing sport for the community. The charity has a long lease with Aviva. The people now managing the site as volunteers, previously managed it as employees of Sun Life, AXA and Friends Life, since Feb 1978. Aviva assumed ownership when they bought Friends Life in 2013. The land is staying in Green Belt so it is assumed the insurance company were happy for a local charity to run it. They no longer have any day-to-day interest. For the record, the Clubhouse has always traded at a good profit but the rent and ground overheads are very high. The Club did record it's only ever loss for year ending June 2015 but happily that situation has been addressed since.

I used to work and play football with him for Sun Life/AXA (now Cribbs). The site was passed to Friends Life when they took over a large part of the AXA business. Sun Life, and then AXA, were happy with the site due to a good staff social scene and the football teams (formerly Sun Life when I played, but now Cribbs) doing reasonably well (especially the first team). However, Friends Life wanted to sell it off. Rob stepped in and bought the lease and has been working tirelessly to keep the whole place going. If Rovers were to find new training facilities then I fear that could be the end of the site.

It could be a ground breaking journey. I am aiming even higher now.

We all know where we want it to end, but before we start out, just a few thoughts. Will the share scheme now cease. Will the 50-50 be required as there is now no real funding required? Will helpline still continue? And of course the same goes for the other fund raising that is currently done. If I can, I'd like to make an early suggestion as to how we proceed. Before we get to carried away, and I am just as guilty, let's all remember where we are today, when we hopefully become the Man City of the West Country. We all owe a debt to those that have gone before, amongst them Denis Dunford and Ron Craig. So I was thinking, it must surely fall to us to preserve the memory of those who fell in two world wars and ensure that the much maligned gates to our current home find a new and fitting setting when we eventually leave the Mem Can we therefore set funds aside to ensure we leave a fitting home for the gates, whether it be at our new home or indeed moved to a better setting near their current location. Maybe the men could be knocked down and the land used for our new training facilities and acadamy?

The new owners will develope the Mem site themselves, after the UWE is built. If they sell, they get their money back straight away plus a couple million. Develope the site themselves and the profit will be tens of millions. Funding/attracting funding is a piece of cake for these people. I expect student accommodation, housing and small retail outlets to be included. As well as a Tesco express of course!

Surely we're getting a bit ahead of ourselves as the new owners haven't given any indication yet that the UWE will definitely be built, assuming it is the surely the plans for Mem site will have to include plans for the gates in order to get pp?

So the statement that the court case is immaterial to the building of a new stadium as quickly as possible is not a clear indication of intent

I hope our new leader has a plan to get the Mem filled up!
Disappointed with the attendance yesterday! What will it take for the Rovers fans who all went to Wembley to think about turning up for a L2 game?
