Hi guys. A fair few Mariners fans will be heading down this time next week. Unfortunately not as many as their should be due to the early kick off and BTSports. But still hope to see 500+ make the trip. (We don't travel bad compared to other clubs) Not been to the Memorial before and really looking forward to it.. Where is the best pub close to the ground for the away fans to have a few swift beers before the game? All the best for the season (apart from sat) you'll get to see some sights traveling to some matches Cheers in advance.

Town Centre. Give yourselves 30 minutes to get to the ground in a taxi though.
Inn on the Green. Wellington. Both near the ground.

500? That's a good effort from up there.

I was going to cadge a lift down with some Mariners but the early start would be too much. Will settle over the road in my Louth local, couple of Grimsby fans will keep me company

500 would be a good effort. Hopefully should be a decent atmosphere for the TV.

500? That's a good effort from up there. Yeah we do have a decent following and a good few exiles from the London area that also travel well. Shame it's an early kick off as we may of brought up to 800 if BTSports hadn't messed about with the kickoff times. If expect it to be a pretty tight affair due to both teams not wanting to lose (obviously) But we have both of our main CB's out due to suspension so that will be a bonus for you. Plus we can't seem to score for toffee at the moment. PS: Bet our skipper Craig Disley is looking forward to the return.

Fair play GF, always good to see a good away following. You'll be welcome down here. Disley will get a good reception too.
Let's be honest we're both at least two divisions below where we want be, Good luck to you for the season (except the two games against us of course!)
Safe journey down to you all, arrive really early or stay on a bit later and you'll see the Balloon Fiesta, which is quite a sight.

Think you will find the Welly(Wellington)would be best. Plenty of room inside and out, decent food(not cheap tho),a stones throw from the Mem. Not a problem for well behaved away fans. Up The Gas!!

I'm guessing suspensions are carried over then from the previous season. Is there anymore weird rules the conference has to offer ?

GrimsbyFish....same question back at you. Where should we head to for the return leg?? It used to be The Leaking Boot (?) but I believe that *ahem* caught fire??
I once didn't have time to walk that far so sneaked one in the home bar to the left as you look at the ground....jacket well & truly zipped up tight I can assure you......still got recognised by 2 biker mates of mine though....happily they kept quiet!!

Disley will get a fantastic reception and so he should, if we had the passion and effort disley showed in a gas shirt last season we certainly would not be on BT sports next saturday!!!

Disley was useless. Why does time change perceptions so much? Had high expectations when we signed Mansfields best player but other than run around a lot, he was overrated imo.

Yes the 'Leaking Boot' has been knocked down. The only local pub to the ground fow away fans is the Blundell Hotel but only welcomes 'shirters' and no bother fans. Other wise there are plenty off the train station in Cleethorpes (not Grimsby) loads of bars with a new Wetherspoons which I'm sure everyone would be fine to get in. Make a weekend of it as Cleethoropes is a good night out

Thanks for the replies guys. I'm sure we'll prob pay a visit to the sports bar...
I'm sure we will bring plenty of numbers down (most will behave) and help with the match atmosphere....
All the best for the season.

I tend not to jump on any particular band wagon and make my own mind up. Yes, the fans generally thought he was useful, he had a song containing a swear word which would have boosted his popularity. However he was an average player at best. To suggest his type would have prevented us from going down is bizarre.

In terms of ability perhaps not but if we had a team full of players with his attitude we would not be in the Conference imo.

Im sure that after a long journey the Bristol Room at the Mem will give you a hearty welcome....not unless the spoilers who run the clubhouse decide to stop away fans for this game..but i say let ALL away fans in..we need their money!!!!!
