I was just thinking that pretty much everything Wael said about the reasons he chose Rovers could apply (and more!) to Notts County. What footballing traditionalist wouldn't want to own the oldest team in the world?Isn't that Sheffield (not United or Wednesday). Notts County were founder members of the Football League. And cheating b**tards of course!! When Sheffield FC were formed in 1857 just out of interest who did they play against ?

When Sheffield FC were formed in 1857 just out of interest who did they play against ? According to their web site they played locally and developed rules (the Sheffield Rules on which the modern rules were developed) for a couple of years. On December 26th 1860 they played Hallam FC so I guess that's the first "official" game.

With a positive performance/ result against Hartlepool and all the positive announcements at the club today it's time to show the owners how many we can get on the road . This was always going to be our invasion ! Who's going ? UTG

The Notts County game has been desinated as a Gas Invasion match. What we need to do is get as many gasheads at Meadow Lane as they can accommentate. The away ends hold approx 4,000 seats. Be nice if we can fill the whole end. so come on everyone, encourage others to join us on the great day, Saturday March 5th. BE THERE!!!!! Accomentate,is that a word?? Or could it be management speak?

Midfielder Stanley Aborah says he is "shocked and disappointed" that Notts County and boss Jamie Fullarton claim he no longer wants to play for them.
Aborah made 22 of his 23 appearances under former manager Ricardo Moniz, and is yet to be picked by Fullarton.
The Magpies boss revealed that within days of taking over, Aborah told him he "didn't come to play for Notts County, he played for the previous manager".
In response, Aborah said: "The club went too far on this one."
When asked by BBC Radio Nottingham if he had refused to play, the Belgian continued: "Not at all, I don't know why he said that. You don't do that to one of your players.
"I was shocked and angry at first, then I was just disappointed."
Stanley Aborah tweet Stanley Aborah tweeted his disappointment after first hearing Fullarton's comments Fullarton's comments about Aborah came after Tuesday's goalless draw with League Two bottom side Dagenham & Redbridge, which left Notts still without a home win under Fullarton.
The 28-year-old has been a notable omission for the Meadow Lane side, with the former Ajax midfielder making his last appearance on 2 January under the interim management of Mick Halsall and Richard Dryden.
"I've got no issue with any player having a relationship with the manager, but the club is the one that employs you, pays your wages, therefore your loyalty, and commit and professionalism should be toward the club," the manager said.
"We felt that over a period of time that it would pass, but unfortunately he has maintained his position. On a daily basis he shows that he doesn't want to be at the club and he has asked, on occasion, to leave the club directly, via email with his agent.
"It is a predicament because he is quality with ability."
The club said in a statement on Wednesday that Aborah had "expressed his desire to leave" shortly after Fullarton's appointment, which was confirmed in an email by his representative on 20 January.
"It was the hope of the club and the manager that Stanley's position on this would change and he would be committed to contributing to the team.
"However, in a further meeting on 29 February, Stanley again expressed his desire to leave the football club," the statement continued.
This guy was quality in our goalless draw earlier in the season.Hope he doesn't get a recall for Saturday, better still get on the blower and see if we can get him!

We ain't selling the whole end at £24 a ticket. 1,500 max. Mind you probably more then the teds will take forest saturday We took over 1,000 to Forest for our 1-2 away win. Not bad in my opinion for a team battling against relegation. We are taking nearly three times the average Cardiff following to away games and they are on the edge of the play offs. The 'Tan' bubble may have burst! Good of you to bring up our following in a thread about your 'invasion' of Notts Co - what about 'invading' your home games?! Nearly 1,000 less for the home game vs Hartlepool than you got against Morecambe?! Apologies if I got that incorrect. Less than 7,000 for home games yet you plan to 'invade' away games? Wahey!

Spot on!!! less then 7,000 at home and we'll still take more to Nottingham then you lot! Couldn't care less how many fans decide to go out and walk mile down the road to home games. It's all about the ones that decide to spend plenty of money and day off work to follow your club up around the country. You'll always have twice as many at home games but you'll never take more then twice as much away

The only way to prove the level of attendances is to swap places for a few years. So we need City to volunteer for 12 of the next 15 years below League 1, including a season in non-league. They have to play at an undeveloped stadium, and they have to lose their rich benefactor who bails them out when things get really rough.
Then we'll see if they can match 6 - 8,000 crowds season after season.
