Haven't seen anyone pick this up yet ....... He added: “Rovers turned down a big bid for striker Matty Taylor as they said he will get them promoted, which is great to be able to do that as a football club and ‘say we don’t want this money’. Rovers have also taken centre forward Ollie McBurnie on loan from Swansea. We asked about him three weeks ago but we couldn’t do it. They went and did it. That’s the difference. We will keep scrapping. No one can question this group’s work ethic or fight. The last two weeks we’ve not had that rub of the green.” Read more at www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/focus-on-mansfield-town-3001006.aspx#Z7bcc8T5Ora3PpjE. Does this mean what the ITKs were saying about him being already sold to Hearts was crap again?

If true, fair play to the former board for refusing to cash in.
What's considered a 'big bid' in League Two? Maybe £200,000?

I think he was talking us up to lower the expectations of the Mansfield fans and take pressure off of his team.
Whether any of it is true or not I don't know.

I thought those ITK said he'd signed a pre-contact with Hearts?

I thought those ITK said he'd signed a pre-contact with Hearts? Surely if he had they wouldn't be in a position to turn down a big money move ?

I think Taylor is one of the most improved players this season, and he understands the runs and passes put through by Lines.

If he scored even 70% of chances he had he wouldn't be here and would be a championship striker. The runs he makes creates majority of his chances. His passing goes unoticed at times too. Considering the way he's worked up the leagues the bloke deserves a lot of credit. Hope we keep him and fans can show what he means to the club

If you are referring to previous posts by me, I said at the time that it was all over the Oxford forum that they thought he might be on his way to them, and I posed the question would we sell him to help fund the court case. No bid was ever made, but I did then confirm that I was told by someone in the club who would know that he was on his way to Hearts in the summer. As for saying he has already been sold to Hearts, I'm afraid you are talking cr*p sir. He is out of contract in the summer so will not realise a fee. However, in light of our change in circumstances I wonder whether he might have a change of 'heart(s)' himself. I am told he has signed a precontract with Hearts, but don't know how legally binding that is. Over to you lawyers out there.

Fair play to you BS14gas for putting that link up so quickly. We should have used you in our legal fight with Sainsburys.
I guess the answer is how specific the terms of the precontract are. Rumour is it is a three year deal at £3k per week. Is that true? I don't know. But if it is anywhere near accurate, then it's bye bye.

If Taylor's goals fire us to back to back promotions then at 26 he's definitely worth £468,000 of our money to match that deal.

The reason for the efficiency is 3 kids running riot around me...,going through the forum I can pretend I'm at a pub with a load of fellow gas heads. Then later on I'll look up to see the destruction......then go to the pub!

If true, fair play to the former board for refusing to cash in. What's considered a ' big bid' in League Two? Maybe £200,000? I would imagine that the former board would be under instruction not to do anything that might prejudice the deal and that would definitely include selling their top scorer.

Oh and I was fairly efficient when when the court case ruled in favour of sainsburys. I was straight down sainsburys Ashton and took a dump in a urinal........I didn't really but was tempted

Maybe £200,000? it also probably explains why Matty went off the boil a little if he felt that he had been denied the chance of moving up. Now that he has his head around why the deal didnt go through he is probably feeling a little happier with life.

Using the BBC cost of football, an average L1 player is on £2,500 a week, 20 goal strikers will be a lot more + signing on fee + transfer. Of course there's no guarantee he will step up (Richard Walker). A years extension at £3,500 would be a good bet.

I'm assuming that if a bid came in it had to be before deadline day. Therefore - Surely if he had signed a pre contract deal no club would make an offer as they would already know he wasn't available? As for ITK - surely you have to accept that what you are told doesn't always make it 100% true and why was it Oxford fans knew before we did ? I think the recent takeover highlighted the fact that those fed info by the 'club' didn't mean it was true - take Jon the Stripe for example would he had written his 'concerned thread' about his concerns of what was happening at the club if he actually knew what really was going to happen as I'm sure you will struggle to find much reason for concern with the current encumbrances ?
