As above. Still some signings short and only five days left. First we were expected to have 2 maybe 3 by Friday, then today and now maybe 2 by Thursday.
Needs sorting.

Don't get too concerned yet Ras. I know what you mean about wanting them now but it seems from DC's comments today we could well end up with Turley, Trotman, Culley and a loan striker before the week is out.
Let's see what happens. For what it's worth I would be very, very pleased if we signed those four to add to our squad.

I'm not concerned yet. I actually believe that we have a strong starting 11 and 5 or 6 decent options from the bench as it stands. 3 more players are needed for depth and to give us more competition and help when we get inevitable injuries and suspensions but right now I think we're ok.

Wouldn't be surprised to see our slow team built cause a slow start to the season. Especially given any signings now will have zero match fitness and many have had little game time as a team.
I give it five games before the fun house is calling for a lynch.

Realistically, we should have had people signed by now. But if he really rates Turley and Turley is fit enough to sign I'm more than happy they're taking the time to find out. No real excuse about the other two, but with a winger and a striker even if they signed on Friday they'll be on the bench and if they signed today I'd only put them on the bench aswell.
Just do hope they actually sign more than anything at the minute.

To be honest I still fancy our chances against Grimsby even if no further signings are made. Turley looks a cert to sign tomorrow or Wednesday, but won't be ready to play. Happy with defence and strike force really... A bit of depth is needed but there really is no major rush for that.

I heard a footballer being interviewed on Talk Sport over the weekend - he said that it's amazing how many professional players are still without a club for the coming season. At least it sounds as though DC won't be picking through the dregs to bring a couple more in.

But Turley is surely a very, very good signing at Conference level. Then you have the rumour of Jolley, who has previously been in the Conference team of the season. We don't know who the third signing would have been, but apparently now on trial at L2 clubs and has offers from abroad. People suggested if we left it late, as you said, we'd end up with rubbish but I think DC is proving that wrong.

I think the problem in the past has been that we have spent all summer chasing one target and then panic signed at the last minute. DC has got plenty of the players he wants and it was probably a bit unrealistic to have the squad completed before pre season.

I think we have a decent enough first XI to go out and beat Grimsby in our opener but we do need to get that strength in depth and plan B option in place pretty darn soon.

We have 15 proper first team players which is a concern. We should have nearer 20 really. All well and good when you dont get injuries but we are not blessed in that department.
Appreciate quality over quantity but goin to be tough

the team can only gel properly from playing proper matches so anyway you look at it we will need time to gel,but if we have good players and fit players we can still get some good results until they do gel i think

The last time we went into a season this short on players was Trollopes last season. He wanted quality over quantity but failed on both counts.
But oh to be in league 1 again
