Winning would be great now, but not catastrophic if we didn't. I want us to win, simply because Sainsburys and firms like that do this sort of stuff all the time. Big firms writing legal contracts so riddled with get out clauses and legal dead ends that it means they can ride rough shod over any one they like. Local group fighting to stop the destruction of their high street? Think you'll find its in the contract mate. Can't build on the last wild panda site in chipping norton? Think you'll find its in the contract mate. 20th tesco express opening in the smallest village in England? Think you'll find its in the contract mate. It's so weighted towards them all the time it would be lovely to get one back. I don't blame Higgs for not spotting the get out clause, Sainsburys are experts at this type of thing.

To me the most important things that has come out of the Sainsbury affair is the planning permissions for the phantom supermarket and the UWE which is the jewel in the crown. Higgs said the ground would get built, of that he seemed confident. He also said long ago that he would sell the Club to whoever had the best interests of BRFC at heart and he appears to have delivered just that, so I would declare that Higgs has played a Blinder. Defeat in the courts (pending) will pale into comparative insignificance when History is recorded. A flawed but brilliant plan, on the surface. However, those who know more than I do about these things have said that UWE made the original approach to NH, offering the land on a leasehold, requiring only that we raise sufficient funds to build the stadium through selling the Mem. Those who know even more say that when we put the Mem site out to tender, Sainsbury's offered £10M more than anyone else in their bid, thereby easily raising the required £30M or so. Others who know even more than the others have said that Sainsbury's only offered that huge sum in order to put off other buyers, and in fact never actually intended to buy the site. If any or all of those things are true, then it dilutes the legend that NH is the master planner behind our new stadium. But since I don't know if any of the rumours are actually true, then I can't judge him. Truth is NH could be me or you along with lots of other perspective sellers of land they have made mugs off but still if you're happy to slag NH off

Not all of it can be blamed on other people.

Like life, a little bit of everything alter things, I expect even Hitler had some good ideas.

How many pages would there be to this thread if we hadn't been taken over!! The result of the appeal is why we were sold.

NHs time at the helm was a complete failure on and off the pitch. Not all of it can be blamed on other people. Not all of it can be blamed on NH either. Why do we have to have black and white ? Like life, a little bit of everything alter things, I expect even Hitler had some good ideas. I thought it was all John Ward's fault. I think some people still want to believe that as part of the NH master plan he got us relegated and into financial peril to unearth a millionaire to take us over. Some people will never criticize him however appalling his record as chairman was.

Nor me. That's why you employ legal teams. But they didn't spot it either. As for blame, why did we allow the end date of the contract to be brought forward by six months? That was the killer, because if we had left it as it was we would have been home and dry. AND WE HAD TO AGREE WITH THAT OR IT COULDNT HAVE BEEN MOVED.

Then again perhaps Sainsbury's would have found another excuse to delay matters further, although they porblaby didn't need to as I oubt we could have funded the build after all the delays.

But that is just having more money ? The £15,000 score board was a staff wage, now it's loose change. Money makes things a lot easier when running a football club.

Honest communication and not hampering fans Directors is free. I won't ever forget being lied to and the insular running of the club despite years of failure showing that wasn't working. Fair play to those who can.

But when NH took over a lot of people said the same ? Time changes things ?

But when NH took over a lot of people said the same ? Time changes things ? Which is why so many of us remain quietly cautious over our new owners. Over time NH was a proven failure. (At fault and unlucky) Time will prove how the new owners will be judged.
