With the midfield we already have, and with one or two other players that can play in midfield, why did we need yet another midfield player? Especially one who is slower than the rest AND as someone says is better on the wing than he is in the centre. So here's the choice Lawrence, Montano, Bodin. Quite simply who is the slowest of that 3. That is the only point I was making. If he plays in the centre is his tackling better than Mansell, or Ollie Clarke, and can he get box to box as quick as Lines?
So why did we sign him, and why has DC promised him another year if we go up. Surely if he is not good enough for Shrewsbury, why should he be good enough for us in Div 1. If he has been brought in to help improve some of the younger players then fair play, but as a player I don't think he is any better than what we already have. It's my opinion which under the European court of human rights I believe I am entitled to..

With three additions to the squad that started the season ,Lawrence, mcburnie and Gaffney. That's adding something but not upsetting the balance in the squad keeping that in it together mindset. Like it has been mentioned if we have academy players and are too scared to include them what's the point of having a youth set up ? No, the club have to show faith in the youth . It also works well when recruiting young players when you can show them lots of examples of young players that have made it through the ranks to the first team squad. Yes if there was a serious shortage for example gaffney and Taylor out for three weeks or more ,or Lockyer and parkes out long term it would seem mandatory to bring in experienced cover. BCFC have flooded their first team with loanees (probably all high earners compared to cities other players) ...is it five players ??....well its done the job of giving them a good chance of staying up.....BUT...what about next season ? Come the summer their squad is back to a relegation team again and will the loan system be in place to save them again ?? Loans should be 'with a view to signing' like Gaffney or emergency injury cover and not to cover the cracks of a squad that's not strong enough (Plymouth/Accrington) .

Him returning not good enough to not sign somebody to help see us through to the conclusionj. Ridiculous ,DC has had plenty of time to find someone available who would up our chances of staying in contention for automatics. You need a bit more than team spirit to see us through and if signing one or two more is enough to lose the "team spirit" then is the team spirit really as good as we think. dc signed a very experienced player to help us get promoted,he was starting to gel into the team when he picked up an injury. any player we sign within our budget and available to sign may or may not perform well,,nothing is certain

I don't think that Rovers lost the games at Accrington,Portsmouth and Wycombe because of Lawrence, but because they were better teams (although Wycombe were cr@p imo)on the day. The 5 match winning run has come against lower teams ( did Lawrence play in 2 of these games ?). Wimbledon certainly weren't a lower team. I thought they looked very good but were undone on the counter attack.

I find DC's approach refreshing. How many journeyman managers have we had, who signed journeymen pros on the last day of a window just for the sake of it. They may not have been bad players, but they weren't signed for the right reasons and didn't enhance performance. DC isn't as short sighted.

For someone who watches Rovers home and away you do have some strange thoughts regarding the man who has taken your club, which has been on its knees for years,to the brink of another promotion. Darrel Clarke has built a Squad which he uses to the brink, and it has paid off brilliantly. Give the man a break,if only till the next defeat!
