Its more about cashflow i believe. There has been reliable talk of boardroom splits and attempted takeovers and as a result cash is not being lent by directors and we have little to no funds. Perhaps we arr waiting for revenue streams to increase once the season is under way ? Speculate to accumulate. If we wait for gate receipts to fund players it will be too late if we are not winning.

Why can't we sign Turley on non contract basis, if he agrees of course, ie no pay but he is registerd with us until medical dictates one way or the other? Then either we sign him or not .

I personally would have rather signed Mitchell or Higgins over Trotman who was very error prone in league 2 but i guess he has gone for experience. Trotman played 40 odd games in league two last season. How many did Mitchell and Higgins play ?

Russgas DC has stated his policy is not signing players dropping out of the league but young players looking at getting into league football. Im a big fan of Higgins but have only heard poor reviews of Trottman. Hopefully he will have enough for a back up defender and i wish him well.
Mitchell im less sure of as i know little about him but i have heard positive reviews. With Trottman all i hear is he played 40 games for Plymouth in league 2 but he was not a popular player and was released.

Yes i understand your point, but i am thinking DC see's Trottman as an experienced back up whilst Turley get's himself fit. Both Higgins and Pearce are both rookies and still unproven. Perhaps he is playing it safe.

Trottman was obviously popular with their Manager and must have been as far as he was concerned, his best available player at the time for that position.

In contrast I haven't heard too many positive reviews about Mitchell, Dinsdale. A number of people I know who have seen him play say he looks very shaky and is the weak link in our defence.
Personally I'm happy with Trotman signing, I think he will be a good addition. He is experienced and good aerially, which is what we need in this division. Good luck to him.

It will all come good, wont it?
He has some experience, is another squad member and is only on a short term contract, so I would imagine not much to lose for us from this deal?

Trotman is cover for the 3 center backs whereas Higgins would be just cover for RB, Trotman is also on a short term deal whereas Higgins may well want a longer deal. If Trotman turns out to be a poor signing Turley can always be signed to replace him, it seems a good deal all round?

If Trottman is only short term, maybe he's cover until Turley is fit?

If Trottman is only short term, maybe he's cover until Turley is fit? DC's denying that's the case but if Trotman isn't up to the task no doubt his contact won't be extended, if I was TP/MM/TL I'd be looking over my shoulder as Trotman is clearly going to try and dislodge one of them from the 1st team soon.

trotman isent fast I think this is a bad mistake. its just a cheep option the signings have semed to have gone tits up I think that's linked to DC's playing budget going tits up! I saw him against Bath In pre season Friendly thought he looked quite usefull, good in the air, solid in the tackle, not bullied off the ball, not really tested for pace, but think he will be a good back up asset and has plenty of league experience....give the bloke a chance, he seems another player keen to come to the gas ...in DC I trust
