Amazing atmosphere and a crazy game. I thought we were bang out of luck and it wasn't to be our day, but that made it all the better when we got the winner. In a strange sort of way I wonder if scoring so late really helped us, because while we were drawing Accerington probably felt in limbo - not knowing whether to hold on to what they had or go for the winner. Had we been 3 up at half time Accers would have known what they had to do and would've thrown everything at Stevenage....and who knows it may have got them a winner! I said the same after. Had we have put all those chances away first half I don't think we'd have done it. I assumed it was tactical by Darrell to hold back on scoring until the last minute so that Accrington didn't have time to get one!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Regardless it was a truly brilliant way to do it. Accy celebrating as thought they were home and hosed right up to when we scored

all my 50 plus years of watching Rovers and football all over England have I been in a game with such an amazing atmosphere from start to finish. We Gasheads were amazing, the team were amazing never stopped going for it had me in tears at the end I can tell you Spot on and I like to think the last almighty rendition of Irene in the 90 th minute encouraged the boys to keep believing.I will take the memories of today to my grave and it was a privilege to be amongst the gas faithful today.UTFG!!! Couldn't sleep last night and kept thinking about your post; My grandfather started following this club about 1930 ish then my Father, then me 63/64 now my four kids and now grandsons have their first Rovers kits, FM even our dog a blue and white Boston Terrier is called Irene! . I remember as a young boy keenly listening in awe to my Grandfather tell me countless times about the trip to play Newcastle when they were "the" team with Bradford, Petherbridge, Bamford etc I never tired of those stories. What struck me was the comment about taking it to the grave, and I realised in a few years I will be sitting with my Grandsons telling them I was there that day, a momentus day in our history. A day when this old man cried unashamedly hugged and was hugged by complete strangers, who is sat here now still feeling emotional with Irene goodnight and the Gas go marching in still ringing in my ears I have always been proud to be a Gashead yesterday I realised just how proud I was to stand with you all

Don't think I've ever had such a stressful match, particularly with so many chances going begging and Accrington failing to score. I really thought we'd blown it again when the game we went into injury time. Wembley last year was more stressy overall I thought. Felt sure we'd win once we levelled it up to about 80th minute when I started to panic we might not. No need! I felt physically sick yesterday during most of the game. Listing on the radio is horrifically awful! I felt worse than I did for most of the final last year (apart from maybe the penalties). I think being there would have made it easier! By far the biggest game that I've not attended myself. As I mentioned in another post, in the four years since I moved abroad, I actually felt homesick yesterday!

Gashead since 1982 when my Dad first took me. Due to various circumstances he missed 2/5/90 and last year and I missed 2007. Yesterday was our first promotion together and we both had tears in our eyes standing on the pitch at the end. My 15 week pregnant wife was also on the terraces with us. Promotion and our first kid on the way. Life doesn't get much better. Thankyou Darrell Clarke and thankyou all the players. In years to come I will be telling this story over and over again to our as yet unborn child. What they have achieved will be remembered forever in the history of Bristol Rovers.
