I think Taylor's agent lives in a fantasy world, a championship club will give him a chance with no fee being involved but for a player with no league one experience they aren't going to shoulder the risk that comes with a 10k a week contract over 2 or 3 years. I expect our offer is around the 3500 to 4000 a week area and would be staggered if he chose oxford even if they have showed interest. Losing players to clubs in our own division is surely something for a previous era. A move to Oxford may increase his income (?) Whilst also allowing him to stay in his home region. Tom Parkes turned down the BRFC contract to go to a lower division club ,so that was a player choosing to leave when offered the chance to stay. Unless BRFC goes back to those high income long contract days for average players ,players will always be liable to find a better opportunity elsewhere. For me I like the one year contracts with incentives tied to success...keeps people hungry and on their toes. I imagine the fact that hartley was coming in and orient offered two years played a part there. The contract on offer indicates how much dc wants to keep the player. Taylor's will be very generous and by far the best offered this summer.

On the radio about a week or so ago, Hamer said the offer would make Taylor the highest paid player at the club (not ever). He also said they had 0ferred to double his present pay. I believe he currently earns £1000 a week until the end of this month. He also confirmed that Taylor would advise the club of the level of any offer he was minded to accept, to allow us the opportunity to match it.

I was told a few weeks ago that Celtic had offered Matty just under 10k a week I'd think Celtic are aiming at Champions League. Do you really think MT is up to that? Ask t-bone; he's sure to know.

Why do wages seem to be lower than before?
I seem to remember Tilson being on 3500 15 years ago. Lines was apparently on 4K and Jeff Hughes more.
Has the climate changes or is this duff info?
Seems a lot of players in l1 are on £50- £75k. That's not that much considering a lot of successfull tradesmen do that, and doctors earn significantly more, as do accountants and solicitors.
Surely a business like football, where the only real overhead is player wages, the money is higher?
Perhaps this is all topped up with appearance money, win bonus etc.

Matty is back from his holidays now so should be hearing something very soon, hopefully it's good news He needs to get a hurry on, my whole life is on hold. if I was Matty I would sign the Rovers deal, smash in another 30 goals and reassess in 10 months time.
