Because there are players much younger than him already cutting it. Using that logic we could show every 22/23 year old the door on the basis they'll never improve when they get older? Both Gaffers & Taylor (plus Vardy!) didn't start playing regular league football until their mid 20's. Harrison's probably not being helped by us stepping up a league every season so he needs to make big strides just to stand still. Hugo isn't saying he isn't going to improve, he's just said that he's no longer a youngster and we can't keep using "He's still young" as an excuse for him.

Very pleased that Ellis is staying. He contributed last year and was a massive part of us getting promotion the year before. At his best, he is a real handful.

There is definitely a striker in there. Would much rather we continue to squeeze out the obvious potential than let someone else benefit from our patience.

Ellis is the sort of player who we'd let go and then watch him score bucketloads elsewhere. If as expected taylor leaves i would give ellis the first ten games in the side to prove himself, something dc gave taylor last season.

I'm working in Newport and a work colleague showed me a video of Ellis working out with a local well known boxing trainer, looks like he is pushing hard to be in good shape for next season. Big season for him I think.
