Just out of interest, do we no longer offer improved longer contracts mid season? It seems a gamble that you can lose most of the squad all in one go. That's the risk you take really, the whole point is that it provides an incentive. Even if we lose Taylor, I'd argue we've benefitted far more from the system than we've lost.
Yeah that makes sense, but I don't see the harm in offering improved deals during the course of the season if they have proved themselves.
You only have to look at Walsall for example, one point away from the automatics and now all their best players are off

Pretty sure we offered Lockyer and brown an offer through the season?

Yeah I feel for them, that's before their top scorer leaves as well! As the poster above says, Brown and Lockyer signed on earlier but I don't think I'd ever question their commitment, contract or no contract.

Yeah I guess I'm just looking at it as a supporter, the 1 year deals don't give players much security so we cant have it both ways!

Not sure 2 years are much more security if you've got a mortgage/car loan etc to pay.

I can confirm he's deciding Thursday night whether to 'Leave' or 'Remain'. Unlikely. Most footballers can't put any sort of cross in the box.

No signings for a couple of days, presume the drip feeding has ended and any new players / MT resigning now being negotiated!

Exactly ,it would be terrible for the club to announce big news at a time when other news dominates. Wait till after England's game on Monday (a win = news Tuesday a lose = news Wednesday ) I'm guessing

I seem to recall SH saying there would be more signings when DC returned from holiday, which means in the coming week.
Or was that just smoke and mirrors?

I guess there'll be signings of some nature, whether it's just squad players or the marquee signings we need then time will tell.
