£3m for a player who scored one goal for Bournemouth all season. He's been OK for City, but £3m is just crazy money for a half decent Championship player. Just shows how much dosh we would have to spend to even survive in the Championship. Not really: Who is to say that spending that sort of money will keep a team in the Championship? I am sure that some of the clubs who have been relegated to League 1 over the years have spent as much or even more on players, yet still gone down. DC would get players for less money and with far better attitudes who would do the job. OK I take your point. We might survive with DC, but even Eddie Howe needed to spend about £20m to get Bournemouth promotion to the Prem. So surviving and challenging are two very different things.

Remember when the Teds signed Lee Trundle.... "He's Fat, He's Round, He Cost a Million Pounds" Song for Tomlin.... "He's Fat, He's Round, He Cost £3 Million Pounds" A fine figure of two men. He makes me feel good, though: I am overweight by far, but do not look any worse than he does, but he is over 35 years younger than me and is (supposed to be) a professional athlete. I will probably be dead by the time he is my age but would like to see what he looks like then. I have heard that a condition of his contract is that he helps train primary school kids........they have to run around him twice, instead of doing cross country runs

3 year contract and rumor has it he was holding out for 20K+ PW. I guess it's easy when they have SL clearing huge debts every year though. I heard he was holding out for 10 fully loaded trucks of Ginsters. To be fair he does improve their attacking threat and that can only be a bad thing for us wanting them to fail miserably. Eddie Howe got shot of him but he obviously saw something in him to sign him for 3.5 million. They did well to almost recoup their initial outlay considering he flopped.

To be honest - if we went five toes - against six toes with them south of the river (money wise given both owners wealth) ours could compete with sir "I don't-paytaxdown)
What is honestly refreshing for me as a Gashead is our new owners desire to be - humble, professional, logical while still be completely ambitious with the running of BRFC.
Let's be honest - for our owners last season was a complete bonus. It was down to the hard work and ability of our greatest ever manager...and one of the best group of players we have ever had hard work that got us back to back promotions.
We could spent X,Y and Z on new players, but why do that when we don't have the right infrastructure in place to continue and support it yet?
I loved what DC said yesterday in his interview about building the infrastructure of our club first before spending dosh.Pantsdown didn't do that - and thats why he has had to write off over £100 million in order to own a lower championship club with a new 2nd grade re built Lego ground.

I think he is a good signing - had a good season for them. My mate who is a Bournemouth season ticket holder always rated him but said he was a bit slow for the prem.

Drove past their new build and was surprised it wasn't red, seemed mostly white, neutral for both clubs I suppose

Durden said it was less than we paid for Maynard. £2.25m for Maynard wasn't it? Not sure if there were any add on fees for appearances, etc.

Out of interest, when was the last time we paid good money for a proven goalscorer from a team equal to us or higher?
