Well, without doubt, utterly bizarre. No idea what took him this long. I can only imagine that we are his fallback option, having exhausted all other avenues. Let's hope he cuts it in L1. If Taylor can't cut it in league one, then I'd have my doubts the other forwards we have will either. But having said that I believe Matty will cut it

Nice comments from him. Still find it all rather odd tbh.
Either way, hopefully he genuinely does really want to be here and we can only assume that is the truth.
As meadgas said, he should cut it in L1, but fingers crossed.

Absolutely delighted about this and have no problems with him taking his time. It was a massive decision career wise for him and with the reported amount of clubs interested he had to make sure the deal and club were right for him and his family. Another 20+ goals this season I am sure!

Excellent news. He brings much more than "just" his goals to the team.
He was clearly waiting for the middle of this month to sign as he is the second picture on the Official Calendar for July!

Delighted with this, a couple of league one quality players and the squad will be completed, can't wait for the season to start, it is well and truly a new era for our football club.

Happy he's signed, cautious but happy.
However, is this his most arrogant comment ever..
"If, at some point down the line, a club comes in for me then they will have to pay Bristol Rovers a fee and I can leave by the front door, with my head held high."
How about we see how you get on in league 1 first yeah Matty?

I'm happy enough with that comment. If Matty had chosen to leave, we would get no fee and we would be faced with a real challenge to get a replacement that would score as many goals. e.g. Leeds had to pay £3m for Kemar Roofe (26 goals in 49 apps last season) compared to Matty Taylor's 28 goals in 50 (accepting Roofe is 3 years younger). If Taylor does get sold, it will now have to break our record transfer fee received.

No fan could not be glad that our leading goal score over the last 2 seasons has re-signed,surely? We just have to wait and see if he can do it in Div one.
Just wonder if the fact(I think)that his girlfriend is a Scot, had anything to do with the delay?
Whatever, I am glad he is still a Rovers player.

Well done Matty.
A few people guessing that he may have got 'stuck' with us. But then again, many said he has already signed for hearts. Regardless- this is the best outcome for Bristol Rovers.
Yes, if in January someone offers 1 million- no doubt there will be a deal to let him talk to whoever. But at least he makes us a pretty penny and would have meant he'd done well for us at the beginning.
Many have 'sainted' lambert for doing something similar but how many promotions did lambert help us to?
Thanks Matty. UTG.
