Ask him some vaguely interesting questions for a start.
Interviewer: "In non-league you were always seen as the big fish, now you're into a much bigger pool. Is that exciting to test yourself against some of these bigger teams and better defenders?"
MT: "Yeah that's the reason I play football. I wanna keep going playing against better players and better teams".
What is even the point in broadcasting this.

Good point well made Matty can only answer what he is asked prime example on about stating the bloody obvious what do you expect the bloke to say "I don't give a sh** I'm only in it for the money"?

Standard footballer interview. Obvious questions and obvious answers. Footballers do their talking on the pitch and Mattys done that for us so far.
Maybe he should have asked " is the league 1 cup bigger than the conference play off cup and if we win it do you think you'll be able to fit your cock in it ?"

I don't know what people expected him to say. I would imagine other offers were made, he considered them and dcided to stay here. DC said earlier that he fully expected Taylor to move on, but how much of that was kidology? The main thing he is here and hopefully won't get found out in league 1. He will have to improve his strike to chance ratio, as there will be less opportunities created by our midfield. To be fair his strike to chance ratio has improved a lot while with us. If he scored 15 goals in league 1 I you could call it a successful season

Don't care what he says, let's see him get us the goals to firstly stay up and then see where we are then, whether we can push on to the play offs. Talk is cheap he ain't like us with the Gas through thin and thin!

I'm glad he is with us and that if he goes we will get a fee for him, but I cant seem to shift the fact he shook hands on a deal with Appleton then changed his mind. I wont dwell too much on it as I am not privy to all the facts but Appleton wouldn't say that publically if it didn't happen. You only have Appleton's side of the story and it strikes me as very similar to the blatant nonsense that Shaun Derry came out with re Rory Gaffney. Oxford have just lost two of their main players from last season and failed to secure a deal for Taylor. Seems pretty unprofessional of Appleton to me. No signature no player. I'm chuffed to bits Matty Taylor has re-signed for us and I'm a bit watered off with the Luke warm reception the news is getting on here. 28 goals in a season, with a definite acceleration at the business end is bloody impressive. Just wish some people would give the guy the respect he deserves.

TBF if you look back over the posts leading up to him re-signing most people (me included) were hoping ,begging even praying he would stay with us without really thinking he would. it's a bit like the Wael take over ,promotion to league one ,DC turning down Leeds .Its a bit much to take in I think we are all still a bit in dreamland things like this don't happen to the GAS bring on League One UTG!!

Appleton " I thought we had shaken hands on a deal". Sounds like bs to me.
Then he adds something about Matty not being interested in joining his hometown club. The guys is definitely playing games and is a bit annoyed. I reckon Matty walked away to think about their offer (as you would), with Appleton thinking job done, and then rejected them.

Exactly, in the world of football, players, managers are always high-giving, hugging, shaking hands it's what they do. So MT shook MAs hand, so what? I presume MA has signed tens even hundreds of players over his manager career but it doesn't mean anything unless the player signs on the dotted line. The words "I thought..." tell you all you need to know. MA has just messed up, he's let Roofe and ODowda go expecting MT to sign. Because he doesn't, MA has to deflect the criticism coming his way so he slags off MT. Get over it, MT signed where he felt most comfortable. UTG!

I guess we will never know the details behind the Taylor saga, the main thing is we are a much more dangerous team with him than without him.
I felt we wouldn't have replaced him had he gone, just relied on others stepping up, so this is a massive bonus.

What do you want him to be like in a interview? Swinging his pipe round like a windmill and jumping up and down
He should have been interviewed in a bath filled with new £50 notes and at the same getting a shoulder massage from a scantily clad lady whilst another fans him with a giant palm tree leaf.
That would have been epic.

Not the most enthusiastic interview I've ever witnessed. think it is probably just his personality. Can only hope that he doesn't feel as if he is too good for the club, and gives that impression on the pitch. Glad he has signed but for me he has to show he wants to be here. He has shown he wants to be here 'cos he is here. UTG!
