I thought it was great v Oxford good v Bolton crap v Rochdale ( for obvious reasons) and decent last night. Winning football creates a better atmosphere.

True Socrates, Oxford was pretty good. Was working Saturday so can't comment on that but am I right in thinking against Bolton it was second hal we piped up a bit? I think it doesn't help the atmosphere us shooting away from the North terrace as its not high enough to afford a good view, I also think DC is conscious of the better support when shooting North which is why he prefers us to finish games down our end, sadly we couldn't suck it in last night.
EDIT! Level of away support is also a massive factor.

Perhaps we should stop singing about how much we hate the 82ers and concentrate on the GAS!!

I think its promotion blue's (low after the high) and the realization that we are not going to dominate teams at this level like we have been in previous seasons. Couple that with 80% of our crowd is 40 years and older which tends to be more pessimistic, expectant, and down right miserable (me included). We have not gained a proper younger generation of support since the 90's and I see as one of the biggest challenges for our club going forward. Having a ground next to 18000 students should help.
Saying that when everyone is at it, getting behind the team there are few places like it.

After the Lord mayors show . . . But you have to say it simply isn't as exciting as the last ten games of last season yet and that's why the crowd is flat. Interestingly though last night it woke up a bit for last 10 just like on 7th may. Think we are now conditioned to expect a last minute triumph

Atmosphere has been shocking for a few years now. All the song starters have been banned and we're left with miserable old men who don't have the energy to sing.

I totally agree with this, I am surrounded by pensioners (unlike myself) and they do seem to moan a lot instead singing the songs and just being positive in general. I think even playing todays music before game something younger supporters can relate too could help.

I don't think the atmosphere has been bad last 2 years, infact i think it gained us alot of points! I think this seasons atmosphere has been more subdued due to anxiety of higher league, ongoing silence over uwe and dc opting for more cautious line ups than expected in most games.
