Roberts played a few games for Yeovile last season; and its not as if Browner or Leads have been pulling up trees; I am looking forward to Bradford City match on Saturday, hopefully the fella makes his debut. He played 45 games and was Player of the Season.

I think we are getting more yellow cards due to facing better players. Without a loan system it is vital that we have talented replacements if/when we get suspensions/injuries.
At least having been here a few weeks Connor can see our pattern of play and start to learn other team mates style of play when he is needed.
I would guess he will feature against Yeovil in EFL trophy if we won't be fined.

I would have thought the club would have said something if he was.
I am loathe to criticise DC but I do wonder why he's signed Roberts, and for that matter Colkett if they're not going to get some game time. Especially Roberts, who's not even getting in the squad.
I wonder if the respective clubs were told what the situation would be when they loaned us their players?

Yoville could have done with him last night to mark the "Impressive" Gosling....

I assume he'll play on Tuesday in the EFL Trophy match? Although given neither of our FB's are outstanding this season you'd think DC would have given him some game time as we've been playing twice a week lately.

Hope the lad gets his chance soon, after all Leadbitter is not currently showing the form he was in towards the back end of last season. Also, like to see Charlie get a game, he has looked tremendous when coming off the bench.

I think the unknown is will the parent club be upset if their player isn't playing? After all he could just as well be in Swansea not playing as not playing in Bristol. Clubs usually lend out players to prove their fitness or to get game time they wouldn't get otherwise ie they lend players for their benefit not ours.

I trust the judgement of the manager of who & when he selects them, UTG

I assume the parent club's loan their players out on the understanding they'll get some game time, hence Gosling to Cambridge/Puddy to Baintree given there must be a number of club's trying to get them on loan.

It they are loaned to us for Swansea's benefit then they have got a pretty raw deal from us so far with McBurnie and Connor Roberts not getting a game between them. Trouble as I see it is thatwe will get a bad reputation for not playing loan players and the clubs or players won't want to deal with us.

We can just not play any loanee we choose, and I've never advocated change for the sake of change (which is a view that appears to be the opposite of DC's!), but you have to face the reality that lending clubs will take that into account in the future. Of course they may just have some totally sh** players they're happy to dump anywhere but that doesn't seem the case with this season's loanees

If we are going to have loan players in as mainly squad players/subs then I would rather we let our own younger players like Broom, Lucas, Thomas and Kilgour gain matchday experience rather than someone elses youngsters.
If they improve the first 11 then that's a different story, imo they should only be signed if they a better than what we have. And if they are better than what we have but aren't in the team then you have to wonder what DC is doing.

What if they're of similar quality to push the existing first 11 into performing to an even higher standard? Or would you rather risk going through the season with only our youth as competition, to come in when one of our first 11 gets injured/suspended? I'm all for giving our youth a chance, but I'm more for winning, and if the Gas youth players aren't up to League 1 standard, then DC is doing exactly the right thing.

Then you have the risk of not being given any more loan players, Chelsea already have a list of clubs they don't loan players to...mainly for not playing them. They want their players to gain first team experience in lower divisions, not be bait to give other players a kick up the arse. I for one don't agree with loaning players full stop, but accept its the only way for smaller clubs especially with the new loan ruling meaning you have to have bigger squads. When will our youngsters get a chance? I cant see playing for a conference team will get them anywhere near league one football?
