Trained all pre season with 532, used it one game and did ok, dropped it and now we're in the sh*t. I don't like us playing 4-4-2 at all - mainly because I don't rate two of our CM's highly enough to think they'd make a competent pairing. We need 3 CM's playing to make us competitive in there, IMO. I also think it suits the CB's we have at the club (particularly McChrystal & Parkes) playing in a 3 as opposed to a 2. The main problem I see with us playing 5-3-2 (as well as creativity) is that most teams will come to the Mem, put 5 in midfield and 1 upfront, and 2 of our CB's will be unoccupied for large parts of the game. I have no doubt that we'd keep more clean sheets playing in this way, but it could be a bit of a waste when we could go with 2 CB's and have another player higher up the pitch looking to hurt the opposition? I think the key is to make sure the wingbacks pretty much play as wingers as part of the midfield when we face this sort of opposition, and don't spend too much time in the fullback positions. _____________Mildenhall________ ____Lockyer__McChrytsal__Parkes Leadbitter__Mansell__Sinclair__Brown/Martin _______________Gosling ____________Taylor__Brunt We had the same conversation last season regarding our dislikes for 442. It was clear on Saturday that we had no midfield and it meant that the two CBs were constantly under pressure and on the back foot.

After speaking to a Telford fan who went to yesterday's game it won't matter what formation we use we need to get at them early. They are swapping their line up around more than we are at the moment and their manager is mucking about trying to find his best team. So we will either face a team that tries to play football or a team that basically hoofs the high ball up all day. According to him they did not start to play until midway into the second half. Therefore we need a team that will attack and score early.

We dont haventhe players for 3-5-2 however bad we look at 4-4-2 the best we could hope for is a 0.0.
I would go
Gk Mildenhall Lb Brown Cb Parkes Cb McCrystal Rb Leadbitter Lw Martin Cm Mansell Cm Monkhouse Rw Gosling Cf Taylor Cf Brunt
I appreciate Monkhouse is a winger but we only have Clarke for cm and he is woeful. We need experience in the team.

As soon as Lockyer is fit I want to see him and Clarke as the two infront of the back 4
They had some great games together and can do it again

Clarke ruins any good work he does put in by being an absolute embarrassment of a passer of the ball. He is a very poor Conference player and I have extreme doubts as to whether McCrystal is good enough. Just wish we could get two new players in for the weekend- striker and central midfielder.
