From what I gather he and his father kept this club afloat during those dark early times after Eastville. I'm too young to remember that but we probably wouldn't have had a club otherwise.

Agreed we do owe the Dunford family a lot. Lets wait for the full story and not just the twitter feed. There could be many reasons why he is stepping down.

DD & GD did a great job saving us. Unfortunately GD has now taken the club as far as he can with his abilities. This will hopefully open the door to new investment.
Thanks Geoff for all that you have done
Now inwards and upwards for the club.

Thank you for all your efforts Geoff. Your family have indeed been huge supporters of our club. You haven't always been popular but i respect you for being you. Some of the venomous behaviour you have put up with over the years has been out of order. Personally i agreed and disagreed with you on certain occasions which is par for the course.
Best wishes Geoff.
I think we can take this as a positive that things are slowly changing at board level, as the BoD said it would, we await the full review and maybe we require patience as huge changes cannot be rushed.

Think this is probably to do with ill health, and as such I'm not sure how big this news really is?
It's change I guess, but I want some fresh blood on the board. Will this spark it?
Like others above though, got to give thanks to him and his Father for saving the club.

Didn't expect this to be honest but many thanks to everything the Dunfords have done for this club.

I wonder whether those who have been asking for this will now be happy and whether this will actually change anything at all in any real sense.

Its all conjecture. Time will tell.

An I right in thinking that just because he has left the board, it doesn't mean he will relinquish any shares? Therefore new investment is still unlikely.
Looking forward to the official statement later this morning.

The investors say they have enough money and they are all very wealthy. Its more about the historical dispute between old and new directors imo.

Statement from Geoff It is with great sadness that on Sunday 17th August I resigned as a director of Bristol Rovers for personal reasons. My family have been pressuring me to step down for a while. I did resign in February of this year, when the team was moving up the League 2 table, but I was persuaded to stay on by the Chairman and Toni Watola. Relegation was a great disappointment to me after nearly 30 years of service to Bristol Rovers, and I am still not over the pain of it. Nick Higgs and the board have my support in turning the club around. I believe they will provide a new stadium in South Gloucestershire, and return us to League 2, but they need the continued support of everyone to do this. I am sure they will succeed. The club is back in non league as it was in the early 1900's and that is totally unacceptable. The team needs solid and positive support and time to change to winning ways. It is so easy to get on their backs, but please give the players every encouragement. No-one can do a decent job without valued support. My participation over the last two years has dwindled to mostly giving financial support and I hope the board can find someone young and energetic to replace me. In Chris Jelf and Edward Ware the club have two people who can lead us to better things. They are prepared to work hard with Nick to bring about a change in our fortunes. It will not happen overnight, but please show patience. On behalf of my family, I thank my fellow directors, staff and supporters for their friendship and help over the years. To all Gasheads, please back your team in their hour of need. Positivity is so important. Thank you Geoff Dunford www.bristolrovers.co.uk/news/article/dunford-resignation-1836165.aspx
