Is Higgins still without a club ? Seems so. Complete travesty IMHO. Still as I keep being told, DC knows what he is doing and get tinted and behind him. As you know yourself Jools, common sense very often says otherwise but misplaced authority often gets given too much credit.

Yes Smith was raw but I saw potential in him from day 1. It was obvious that although he needed to improve defensively he was going to be a very good footballer. Same could be said for Higgins although I wouldn't expect him to reach Smith's level. Leadbitter however is just a liability. I don't want to make him a scapegoat for all our problems because we have a lot of players who either don't look good enough or are under performing but he is clearly the weakest link and it just annoys me when Higgins showed so much potential in pre season. I'd cut our losses right now because I'd be more than happy to never see Leadbitter in a Rovers shirt again. Transfer list him or send him out on loan and get Higgins in ASAP. If not play Lockyer there, he might have played Akinde onside last week but he's still a far more reliable right back than Leadbitter. "more than happy to never see leadbitter in a rovers shirt again" after 2 appearances?? words fail me when people write such utter crap like that Similar things were said about Michael Smith when he first joined us and myself , Gasheadblues and one or two others took a hell of a lot of stick for saying give the lad a chance. The rest is history, the same may well be said of Leadbitter, given a decent run in the side.

Perhaps we wouldn't have been able to agree terms with Higgins? I've seen Leadbitter in two games and thought he was okay against Grimsby and Cov, I won't comment on the any others as I wasn't there.
There is an added focus on the guy because Higgins didn't sign, that's not on Leadbitter however and I won't critise him because of that. Leadbitter was apparently decent in this league but at present he is part of a defensive unit devoid of any confidence.

Hes part of a team that doesn't currently know what it is supposed to be. These aren't world class footballers you cant just tell them to do a different thing every week. They need a system in place. Then you can tell them right, you've seen that role you know how we play, go out and do that.

The big trouble is that the defenders are trying to play football and p-ass the ball about but what they are actually doing is putting themselves under more pressure with each pass because in all honesty they are not good passers of a ball and are not the quickest. They need to be bringing the midfield into the game rather than just passing the ball to each other. I think Leadbitter is trying too hard to impress but needs to have more confidence by playing in a settled formation. I am hoping for much better from this team when the first win comes. the trouble is if DC keeps changing the team so much every week I don't see that first win coming very quickly.

This is how i feel, pick a system that he feels is best and stick to it,then coach them to know their individual and collective duties, help them learn from their mistakes and keep it as simple as possible. Whatever system he chooses it should be used by the youth team to first team
