Today is the date that Bristol City fans relish – it marks the day the club overtook Bristol Rovers and they have been above them ever since.
On October 28 2000 Bristol City won their game away against Wycombe Wanderers 2-1 but Bristol Rovers lost to Oldham Athletic 2-0 at home in League One.
In terms of stats on their own it might not seem that momentous but in actual fact the results for each team were very significant.
The scores marked the moment that City became the higher ranked club and Rovers have not been able to reach them since.
Here is the continuous countdown clock marking the moment - click here
That season saw City finish in the top half of League One while Rovers were relegated to League Two.
What was to follow were some dark times for both clubs but 16 years on things are looking very different in each camp.
Rovers have had two back-to-back promotions to secure their place back in League One while City managed to secure promotion to the Championship season before last.
Now a quarter of the way into this season and both clubs are in the play-off positions in each of their respective leagues.
What a difference a decade and half can make.
Of course for City fans 4.45pm on October 28 is date they like to mark each year while Rovers fans hope the time is edging nearer for this record to be quashed.

There's also a story with a headline warning Rovers fans about terrorism at the Mem.
The story is based on the UK threat level being 'severe' as it has been for ages and Rovers having a policy on bags in the ground. It admits that no threat has been made against Rovers and is pure clickbait.

How sad that one of the ted 'journalists' had to post that to reassure themselves about the shrinking gap.

Thats pathetic journalism, its practically school level. "Today is the date that Bristol City fans relish", thats even insulting to them.

But how can they have overtaken us? They've only been franchised 4 years?
Very odd and inaccurate story.

Im pretty sure they were just glad when the year 2000 came along as most of the 90s had been a nightmare for them against us, our time will come.

I saw this earlier, and couldn't care less about the date. It's not one anyone is going to put in their diary. How does the countdown clock work, did someone start it running at the time both results came in? If so, it definitely wasn't 4.45 pm.
As we all know, this article is complete garbage, from a rag which has had it's day.

Even by BP standards this is a shocker, it would even sound silly on the OTIB. Do any Gasheads really worry about the gap has long as we keep making progress in the league?

The online rag is nothing short of a comic, all stories are pulled from somewhere on line, all formats from sister papers are identical and embarrassing to read to anyone with half a brain. Don't go on there and add to their advertising revenue !

That paper has been conducting a obsessed love - in with the sh** for the whole of this season. It seems there isn't a day goes by when they're not blowing smoke up the arses of either Lamsdown, Ashton or the chirruping Cockney Fool mk2.
Of course the Teds are loving it because in their pathetic minds this just proves how massive a club they are. What I want to know is when are they going to replace the erroneous 1894 or whatever the date they have on their badge with the correct date 1982 (Ltd)? They can't even be honest about that.
Personally, I am delighted all the Posts admiration is towards them, for that means we can continue to develop quietly away from th Spotlight. Suits me down to the ground.

I thought we ain't their rivals anymore..? So why have they got a countdown clock for us? Thought it would be something to do with Cardiff, after all they are they're real rivals, not us...

I don't think it has a bias, it just does what it needs to sell. Would like to see it's circulation level compared to 20 years ago. I use to enjoy reading the reports, but haven't seen one for years, I wouldn't know it existed if it wasn't for the links on here

TBF to the inbred time(sorry bep) , the truth is as bags is allowed into the ground many will be terrorised by his flask Or is this a ted plot as were are getting nearer (this bit is total bollocks but someone will find a reason to be offended by it)
