the budget is high but unbalanced with mildenhall parkes brunt and brown [maybe others] taking up much of the money. I got a feeling their lg2 wages will be reduced with relegation ,in much the same way their wages would have been increased had we got promotion. However you look at it the budget will be near £1.5m. There are only two other clubs that could get anywhere near that. Hopefully after saturday DC will show us we were wrong to doubt he had spent it wisely

I know the likes of Taylor and White are on roughly £500-£600 p/w but I'm not sure what their bonuses are - not that they've earned any just yet. Fingers crossed that'll change soon cos it'll mean they have been scoring and winning!
I hope the performances so far have shown the Board that we lack quality in certain areas and have nowhere near enough depth to the squad. My opinion is that it has prompted them into action quickly enough for it to make a difference... instead of waiting until October for a loan signing like we normally do.
Here's to the new players adding to the team.

Yeah better to act now, the board respond to pressure as dont like getting it in the neck so really pleased so many spoke out. We have seen GD finally step down and a promise of three new players. The week is ending much better then it started.

£1.5 million budget this year!!!!! I reckon at the moment it ain't half of that. Conservative estimate, Mildenhall, Brown, Parkes, McCrystal and Brunt are on around £2000 a week at least thats £480000 a season, Harrison, Lockyer, Clarke, Mansell and Monkhouse are on around £1500 so thats another £360000 , say Leadbitter, Gosling, Sinclair , Taylor and White are on an average of £800 thats £192000. All in thats well over a million. Add to that Martins wages, the first year pros wages, plus Turley when he signs and the other 3 Higgs has sanctioned, plus any signing on fees and bonuses £1.5m looks very realitic. Who else in this league pays that ? Maybe Eastleigh and Forest Green but thats it. Are these figures just picked at random or is there any logic behind them? Brown is really no better than Leadbitter so why pay him £100K a season when we could get another Leadbitter for £50K? Likewise are we really go to pay Lockyer & Clarke £75K when they are inexperienced players? The only players who we maybe still paying decent wages are Parkes, McChrystal, Mildenhall & Brunt, and they will have all had their wages cut following relegation so they won't be on anywhere near £100K per season. Regardless of that last season we were big payers but we're still relegated.

Regardless of that last season we were big payers but we're still relegated. I'm not claiming to know what we are paying our players just that I knew the general wages for players last season so took a bit off for relegation. It was more to show how our wage budget is likely to be around £1.5m so just as an illustration. As I said even if every senior player was on a measley £1000 a week before bonuses our wage bill would be over £1m before we add the 3 newbies, Turley and 1st year pro's. Hope that makes sense, not trying to claim I know players salaries

I'm delighted GD has finally stepped down (been calling for this for 8 years at least) and i'm delighted we still have money in the wage budget. I believe GD stepping down has removed the main obstacle to new investment. I still believe DC has really let us down in his slow recruitment and lack of preparation for the season ahead and also in the long ball approach he has used after all he said. That aside I felt his appointment was wrong at the time so this is not a reaction to 3 games. He has a great opportunity to take us from our lowest ebb with what I believe is the 2nd or 3rd highest budget in the division and biggest fan base. I look forward to future boardroom changes but things are less gloomy then the start of the week for which I'm very grateful.

Where did NH say we were signing 3 players plus Turley? He's siad they've spoken to 3 players this week, not intending signing 3?
If we don't have at least one new signing by this weekend you do have to wonder if we will ever sign another striker, as I've said before whilst JW was blamed for not signing a striker last season DC's seems to be having the same problems.

Sent from my Nexus 7 using Tapatalk It's debatable whether we make three new signings. I suspect this is just said to keep the fans happy.DC has already stated before the season began we will go with a squad of around 18/19. Had we won our first three games everything would be hunky dory. Only they now realize they have signed a load of old cheap crap as usual and have to now spend some proper dosh on a few decent signings. Same old, same old. Will we ever learn ?
