Leadbitter 8 defended very well and was up against a good winger and won his dual Lockyer 6 ok Hartley 7.5 scored and won a lot of defensive headers Brown 6.5 defended ok and linked with Monty well at times
Bodin 8 great hattrick,as his hair grows he gets better O. Clarke 5 stuck at it Lines 5 ok but not at his best Montano 7 worked hard and threatened,a couple of nice crosses
Taylor 6 better all round game, nice touch giving Billy the pen Gaffney 5 nowhere near as good as his last few games
Subs: Harrison 6 won some headers and a decent snap shot at goal Lawrence 6 lovely ball control and brought a steady head into proceedings Mansell nole
Crowd 7 great numbers Ref 5 better than most Coventry 5 not bad from box to box,but poor in both boxes
Puffy. 5. Looked jittery Lead bitter. 7 solid going forward and defensively Lockyer. 7. Nearly back to last season's form Hartley. 6.5 took his goal well but still suspect defensively Brown. 7. Worked well with Montana Bodin. 8.5. Constant threat took goals well Lines. 7.5 looked better with Clarke doing holding job Clarke. 7 did the dirty work disciplined one excellent cross field pass to Harrison to set up second goal Montana. 7 looked up for gas and caused problems for Coventry Taylor. 6 not on his game as once again fouled up a decent chance Gaffney. 6 no fault with work rate but first touch is poor Harrison. 7 caused Coventry defence problems on ground and in the air Lawrence. 6 showed his class with his touch and vision Mandela. Good to see him back albeit in a cameo
Leadbitter 7 good game, had his work cut out with a tricky winger Lockyer 7.5 much improved Hartley 8 solid with the priceless ability to get goals Brown 7.5 good game
Bodin 8.5 M.o.M 3 great strikes, Billy of last season is back O. Clarke 7.5 did the ugly stuff well Lines 8 conducted the performance by example Montano 8 an asset to both Brown and the rest of the team
Taylor 7 worked hard Gaffney 6 worked hard but his touch was missing today Subs: Harrison 7 livened it up when he came on Lawrence 6 calmed things down to see the game out Mansell n,o,l.e
Crowd 7 great turn out but quiet at times Ref 6 Card happy Coventry 3 some enthusiastic kids but have relegation written all over them
Puddy 6 - Still jittery, I think communication with his defense whilst under pressure is weak. Though not sure who is to blame. Great save though. If he keeps this form up he may save his Rovers career as a number 2 keeper. Leadbitter 7 - Good pace, Tried hard against a very good winger. Lockyer 7 - Solid. Hartley 8 MOM - Great goal and felt he was the most solid of our backline. Carried on despite a head injury. Brown 6 - Felt like he was not worked that hard by Coventry, his long balls were a little Hollywood and missed their mark. Bodin 8 - Couple of great goals. Though without the goals would have rated him 6.5. Lines 6 - A bit off the boil in comparison to the rest of the team. O clarke 7 - Not sure why he gets as much stick as he does. Felt he worked hard today. Montano 7 - Worked hard and chased the ball had a good chance. Taylor 6 - Couple of good chances, chased the ball a lot. Would have been good to put away that close header. Gaffney 6 - I love gaffers but he was out of sorts today. Ran a heck of a lot as usual. When the team play badly overall, Gaffers seems to be a shining beacon. When the team are playing great overall, he seems to fade a bit.
SUBS: MANSELL - NOLE Great to see him though! Want to give him a proper chance. Harrison 6.5 - Injected some life into the game. Lawrence 6 - Was a bit anonymous for me.
Crowd 6 - Was expecting more of an atmosphere, very quiet in places. Only when we were two goals up did we start shouting about it. DC 8 - Good selection, felt it was what the fans wanted. Ref 7 - Thought he was quite fair. Coventry 3.5 - Some flash moments but a poor side with a gem of a left winger.
Puddy 5 one great save, one commanding catch and one surprised one where it landed in his hands more by luck than judgement. The rest of his game was panicky, such as the juggling of a tame back header and the one handed flap for a corner caused by misjudging the flight of a cross and almost diving underneath it. This did anything but cement his place in the team
Leadbitter 8 strong game against their best player. Got forward well supporting his wing man enabling him to cut inside and manufacture his hat trick. Good bit of clearing out the danger when Cov looked through on goal. Plenty of battles won against an equally quick adversary. Lockyer 7 Sordell and Tudgay are an experienced and threatening pair and were nullified well. The danger came from crosses directed behind or between the defenders and the keeper. Indecision ensued and whilst that was mainly down to a rusty Puds bothCHs must take some of the responsibility for that. Hartley 7 took his goal well and a brave showing after being bloodied in the first half. Occasionally has to resort to unsubtle foul play due to a lack of speed or anticipation but no doubting his commitment or endeavour. Brown 7 solid showing from Browner, always looks more comfortable as a fullback with a winger in front of him for company. Combines well with Montano as they share the attacking and defensive duties well.
Bodin 9 looked somewhere near his best in an inventive and hard working first 45 mins. Confirmed it in some style with a perfect second half. Lines 7 think a couple of his trademark driving runs would have settled us down earlier but they were left in the locker today. Nevertheless a strong showing with the dead balls and ball retention from CL Clarke 7 just as tireless and hard working as the beard, just less conspicuous doing it. Montano 8 bloody good game and our player of the first half, one rasping shot and some decent crosses, both first time and measured after a run or passing interchange. Adds unpredictability to our forward play which is always a positive asset. Is also prepared to do his share defensively and can put a decent tackle in.
Taylor 7 getting back to the alert quick thinking link up player we're used to seeing Gaffney 6 industrious without looking threatening
Harrison 7 one of his more creative and productive cameos Lawrence 7 not on very long but can honestly say that he did not put a foot wrong in his minutes on the pitch Mansell NOLE
REF 5.5 balanced out every good decision with a bad one Cov 4 nos 11 and 6 stood out in a poor side Crowd 6 good numbers but jittery with Puds in front of them!
