Writing was on the wall for all our loans after the last couple of games as none of them have been used. DC has obviously made a call on this and it is fair enough. Loanees have always been used in a functional way under DC unless they really impress like Gaffers. It will free up room in the squad and some cash to strengthen in areas we need to and I think that's the right thing to do.

Oh my goodness. People saying he isn't good enough really need to open their eyes and actually look at our squad - particularly the middle four who started on Saturday.

no surprised when the lad is sat on the bench for 90 whilst Lawrence and Mansell are on the pitch. The number of players we need to bring in this windows increases. 4 or 5, if we seriously want to build a good squad. Can't say I agree with this. Colkett barely played anyway so its not as if he really needs replacing. We had too many midfielders a couple of weeks ago so we are probably just getting it down to the right level now. I don't think any more than four is really necessary. If Mansell isn't in DC's plans then he will need replacing. Otherwise, I don't think we'll sign a replacement for Colkett just to be sat on the bench or in the stands again, any player we sign should improve the first XI. So same situation as before really, just with one less unhappy squad member sat in the stands. Only thing that worries me is that there is no other creative midfielder to replace Lines should he get injured. UTG! Just realised I've contradicted myself a bit there. If the underlined bit is the point you were trying to make singup then apologies. UTG!

Very disappointing. Despite showing signs of inexperience, he clearly had flashes of creative brilliance in him which can win games. We'll look back at this in years to come and wonder why he didn't feature more I strongly suspect.
DC's said previously he doesn't like including playing loan players who don't have long term future here and it's very apparent with the game time of Colkett and Boateng.
Can't imagine Wael will be overly impressed as it will inevitably affect our chances of future Chelsea loans.

The kid needs to bulk up a bit I think, seemed a bit too lightweight but young enough to improve.
I know he is young but a kid as good as he looked on paper needs to question why they cant get into an average L1 midfield.
Another great DC loan signing eh.

It’s not just us though. The new loan rules mean that clubs will have brought in loans to bolster the squad as business cant be done as and when needed anymore. You can only play 11 players at the end of the day
People want/say we need new signings as we aren’t good enough. The easiest players to move on and free up room are loans
This isn’t going to be unique to us and the ‘bigger’ clubs will move their players around. There is no guarantee Colkett or Boateng or Joe Bloggs will play every week wherever they end up
but yeah DC's fault and all that

Why is every thread on the forum so anti DC recently, is it a true reflection of what Gasheads generally feel or just turned into the Rovers moaners forum?
Unless we play the diamond Colket just doesn't fit into our team as he's too weak to play in a midfield two alongside Sincs or OC, but even then he's been poor lately when started, against a poor Bury team he was subbed fairly early and he was next to useless at Shrewsbury.
A good player to come on late and snatch/make a late goal but you sense both Colkett and Rovers want more than that, probably a good move for both sides he's been recalled.
You sense the experiment with young inexperienced Premiership players hasn't been a success.

I can see no serious logic whatsoever behind the midfield at Charlton, it was as if DC was treating it as a reserve game and waiving the white flag. He cannot honestly believe that LL (released a year ago from league one) and Mansell (released 2.5 years ago from league two) are good for a start in league one, alongside Sinlair and a paceless attack? At least Colkett, even on the wing, would of provided some outlet.

I support him completely, but that doesn't mean I cannot question the rediculous midfield at Charlton and make the conclusion that it was almost handing the 3 points to them.

We have lost two young exciting player. instead we are now selecting guys to start who are closer to retirement. What concerns me that DC has said he wants to build a squad to challenge eventually for the championship. there are currently no signs of this happening or are we going to sign 11 new players in the summer. Surely it would be better to start to bring players in now.

Boateng and Colkett were clearly bought in as cover when Mansell and Lawrence were injured at the start of the season.
Expect Clarke Salter and Conor Roberts were similar as we were low on numbers at the beginning of the season.
Luke James was intended as a potential Matty T replacement, taken on loan as an extended trial with a view to signing but this hasn't come off.
From recent comments Darrell doesn't like loan signings but likes to use them to cover bases where permanent signings are unavailable. To me, this is what happened with his final day loan signings.
Disappointing because colkett showed promise but his spark has gone of late. He seems to suit a 20 mins performance at the end not a start at this stage in his career.

So 3 of our 5 loans have now been recalled by their parent clubs... No they haven't. Only Colkett has been recalled. Boateng and Roberts were both released early from their loan deals by Rovers. Quite a big difference.

Agreed all should be allowed to criticise. But if you support him why accuse him of "waiving the white flag"? This suggests he wanted to lose/ didn't care. That's beyond criticism of tactics, that's questioning his integrity. It's not the criticism, it's the nature of the criticism that annoys people.

I think Luke James is entirely different , DC IMO sees him as having a chance to win a permanent contract with us as opposed to the others who were always going to go back James fits the DC criteria if hes good enough.
