It's often said on here that lack of consistency is to be expected with younger players. Ellis certainly suffers with this, but nobody doubts his ability. I think he can make a quality championship striker. I actually think we can be proud of the young players that have come through the ranks. Even without Cat 1, 2, or any status we are producing players fit for a league one first team and possibly higher.Agree with this. I saw someone post in last weeks' player ratings page that Harrison, Lockyer and O.Clarke were all in the Times' League One team of the week. Three of our academy products aged 22, 22 and 24 in League One TOTW without Cat 1 or 2 status is remarkable and I think shows the hard work that people put in behind the scenes. Imagine if we do get Cat 2 status and stop losing a couple of 15-18 year olds every season to Championship and Premiership clubs. We would have even more of our youngsters stepping up to the first team. UTG!

O. Clarke has been a revelation in recent times. I couldn't agree more Kippo I have always rated Ollie and I think he has got some unfair stick on here! He really seems to be stepping up to the plate now I really hope he keeps it going, seems like a nice lad and a good old Bristol boy. Does anyone know what's happened to Alfie Santos is he still at Derby haven't heard anything about him for ages?

He really seems to be stepping up to the plate now I really hope he keeps it going, seems like a nice lad and a good old Bristol boy. Does anyone know what's happened to Alfie Santos is he still at Derby haven't heard anything about him for ages? Bristol Rovers[edit] Santos began his career at Stoke City[4] as a schoolboy before joining Bristol Rovers on a two-year scholarship in the summer of 2011.[3] The next season, he made his professional debut whilst still considered a youth player on 20 November 2012, in a 4–0 defeat to Port Vale in Football League Two, coming on as a substitute for Fabian Broghammer after 60 minutes.[5] He signed his professional contract with the club on 23 April 2013. Santos became a regular player in the Bristol Rovers first team in the 2013–14 season, playing 27 matches, including 23 in the league, but his team were relegated to the Football Conference. On 12 October 2013, he scored his only goal for Bristol Rovers, in a 1–1 league draw with Mansfield Town at Field Mill; he came on for Andy Bond after 72 minutes and scored the equaliser 12 minutes later.[6] Derby County[edit] He signed a two-year contract with the option of a third year at Derby County on 1 July 2014 after turning down a new contract with Bristol Rovers.[3] He had previously been in discussions with Premier League club Hull City.[7] Santos made his Derby debut on 26 August, replacing Johnny Russell for the last 20 minutes of a 1–0 League Cup victory over Charlton Athletic.[8] Notts County (loan)[edit] Having not made another appearance since his debut, on 9 January 2015 Santos went on a one-month loan to League One club Notts County,[9] and made a total of 3 appearances. Eastleigh (loan)[edit] On 10 November 2016, National League side Eastleigh announced that they had reached an agreement with Derby to sign Santos on a short-term loan until 2 January 2017.[10] His loan was cut short after just 28 days, when Derby exercised their right to call him back from Eastleigh.
