Thought this would be one of the embarrassments that would stop if im honest How is it embarrassing? Genuine ask. Afaia it raises good money and gets loads of local businesses involved. Because you can end up with a crap sponsor! Do we really want to be sponsored by another pub for example?

Do we really want to be sponsored by another pub for example? I get your point. There is a risk of a naff name on the shirt! I guess it's a tough one and the balance between revenue and the wording sways in the favour of chasing £££

Regards the FFS Club entering this years 1883 draw: Its a lovely thought, sadly the fact is we are struggling to get the numbers this season. We are Sponsoring every Rovers goal at £25 as Bideford Gas said, and we are currently looking at a shortfall to afford that particular gesture to the football club, for which i take full responsibility as it looks a step to far fundraising-wise. To enter the Shirt Sponsorship draw would cost £1500, therefore we would require 150 people each putting in £10, which unless i'm completely wrong just aint gonna happen. The old guard of the old official forum are slowly disappearing and the number of regular posters on here who contribute is low compared to a few seasons ago. Most of our long term FFS members no longer post/read regularly which means the FFS threads get very little replies/bumps. Sadly if i'm honest it now appears it is losing interest which is a real shame because from the outset it was formed to show forum's can have a positive effect. UTG Sad to say I agree with you Jon. We were great for a while but with a heavy heart it looks like our time has come. In regards to any shortfall I hope we will come up with something, we always have in the past. Brilliant though wasn't it? Had some very memorable occasions. I shouldn't think this is the end though.. There is always an informal opportunity to meet pre/post match and keep it warm...

Suspect we will have tried a bit to find another sponsor. But need (and therefore cost) of employing a proper commercial sponsorship manager combined with quality and attractiveness of current facilities at Mem (see arguments for why we need a new stadium) will seriously hamper our ability to land and keep a big sponsor, even if many were interested in L1 football. Even then it's a long and complex process. Getting some money via 1883 Club is pretty easy for the club and avoids creating a distraction from other priorities right now.

When we created the deal. It was extremely profitable way of generating funds through shirt sponsor.
Since we created the deal- exposure of league one hasn't really increased. Therefore I doubt there are any deals to pursue out there.
Makes sense.

IMO Wael and Steve are fulfilling their evolution promise and respecting the clubs history, he's mentioned it a few times. He likes the idea of us being a close knit club and involving Local businesses that are Gasheads is something he, and most rovers fans like. UTG

Do we really want to be sponsored by another pub for example? The Sportsman have entered the sponsor deal ever since it started, it's about the odds of winning compared to taking part. Many Rovers fans have and still use the pub on a regular basis, they are putting a bit back into the club I bet you pay a couple of quid to enter the euro millions when it is a big jackpot, far less chance of winning that bugger? It's also the originality of having a new sponsor every season, could be worse could have a "hashtag" and be a franchise

I think Mr Holtby can take credit for this idea, so credit where it is due To put the record straight - the idea was brought to the Club by Barry Bradshaw - it was an idea that Clevedon FC were using when Barry owned them. So any credit should go to Barry and Clevedon. The idea has raised a lot of income for the football club especially at a time when no sponsors were around (following the financial crash and also Rovers demotion from the league).
