GKLumley Mildenhall (Should be fit soon) DefendersLeadbitter Brown Partington J.Clarke Lockyer Clarke-Salter (Back in training) Hartley (Back in April) MidfieldersMansell Sinclair O.Clarke Lines Bodin Montana Moore StrikersTaylor Gaffney James Harrison Lucas So excluding those told they can find another club we still have a 20 man squad with only one of those (Hartley) facing a lengthy spell out injured. We're not particularly short on numbers but we are still short on quality so I'm hoping the 2 or 3 additions DC mentioned are good enough to improve our starting 11. We definitely need a CB better than what we have and cover / competition for Lines. Is Leads fit and when did Lucas become a first team player? Take those out plus Midlers, Hartley & CJS and we're down to 15!! I see your point but DC's comments regarding Leadbitter didn't make it sound like a long term injury. Could be wrong of course. Last we heard Mildenhall was expected back in January so I'm assuming he's not far away. Again, could be wrong. DC said a couple of weeks ago JCS was back in non contact training so he shouldn't be too far away. I accept I'm probably pushing it calling Lucas a 1st team player. I guess only DC knows whether he's got 19 available or as you say, 15. Of course Mildy was told he could find another club and went on to play a significant part in our L2 promotion so until they actually leave Puddy, McCrystal, Lawrence and Easter are available for selection.

Those saying DC could have 'handled this better'.....
Please tell us how he has actually handled it with the players, you must be privvy?!
'Not in his long term plans' or 'not going to be considered for selection and free to find another club'........same same.
He's put it in no uncertain terms. Better for the players IMO

Would it not have made more sense to tell them they were not in his long term plans and should start looking rather than say they will not be selected again. Why cut-off options? Who knows what the next few weeks and months could hold in terms of injuries and then DC might have to play them or use youngsters. Why force yours into a corner? Think DC could have handled this better. I have to say that I completely agree with this. I love DC and respect him immensely, he's a superb manager and we're lucky to have him. However this statement I have to admit I find quite bizarre and a tad disappointing. Of course I will happily admit I was wrong if it turns out to have been another DC masterstroke.

So Greenslade, Broom, Kilgour and Lucas may be in DC's plans.

He's probably been told to cut the squad size down if he's bringing in new players it makes perfect sense,if I was the the owner I would be saying exactly that

He also told Ellis Harrison to buck up his ideas and find another club. He also told Mildy he was surplus.
Both responded well in training and won their place back.
We don't know what goes on behind the dressing room and training ground doors. DC does. So lets have some faith in him eh lads.

I can't imagine Easter, Mcchrystal or Lawrence are going to be in any rush to leave

I can't imagine Easter, Mcchrystal or Lawrence are going to be in any rush to leave Well they have 2 options. Take 5 more pay days here doing nothing, and find themselves unemployed along with hundreds of other footballers at the end of the season, or find another club now with time to earn a place in their team and possibly a new contract for next season.

This thread sums up the usual suspects on here, who look for any opportunity to moan or find fault! Not so long ago people were moaning that the squad was too big, with people sat in the stands. People were also moaning that some of our younger players were not being given an opportunity.
Now when this is being addressed, people now moan that we have not got a big enough squad.......jesus, DC just cant win.
As I see it, this gives a clear and straightforward message to the 6, so surely good for them, but also gives a positive message to others, that DC thinks they can be part of his squad, e.g Broom, Lucas etc.

As regards how DC has treated the players , telling them now they are not in his plans is better than telling them at the end of the season when 100's if not 1000's of players are free agents. Telling them now gives them more time to find a club . I think he's done things in the right way..... And made the right decision with all six.

From Bristol Post: "The manager also confirmed that he is hoping to add another "two or three" players to his squad before the end of the transfer window after already securing deals for Lumley and Eastleigh captain Joe Partington."
So with Mildenhall and JCS back soon, and 2/3 more to come in, we'll be doing fine for numbers.
But don't let that get in the way of the folk on here who want to tell us all how today's news is a clear sign of UWE being dead, Wael wanting to sell up and DC having no funds for new players.

I've been saying for a couple of weeks the rumours are the UWE won't budge on the land value and if they don't the UWE & Almondsbury won't go ahead and Wael won't be spending any more money on transfers, unfortunately the rumours seem correct. We could just wait until the transfer window has shut and make a judgement then, rather than rushing to conclusions that UWE is dead because we've announced that two kids, two fringe players and two L2-standard players are able to leave? What happens if we now bring in three experienced L1/Championship players? This would all seem a little premature, wouldn't it? Not calling the UWE dead just the last rumours were they wouldn't budge on the land value (why should they?) and until that issue was resolved Wael wouldn't be spending any more major money at the club. The fact the purchase of Almondsbury now seems on hold, together with our underwhelming loan deals along today's announcement seems to support those rumours, following on from the Directors/contractors heavily involved in the UWE project departing It's time fans faced up to the fact something's not right behind the scenes, hence why Wael and Hamer have now pulled down the hatches and are both seemingly shying away from the media.

In fairness, something "not being right behind the scenes" is definitely your opinion - not a fact.

New, baby, keeper, right back unknown and still people say we have money to spent. We have the best manager in the football league, apart from premiership, and he is not spending any money The owner said money is there if needed, so where TFC is it.
