I wasn't there today so not going to comment on the game itself but I do think there are still reasons to be positive. There's no denying the away form is in need of major work but if you'd offered me this position after 28 games I'd have biten your hand off. 13 points clear of bottom 4 realistically 4 wins should mean safety and I'm confident we'll get those at home alone. Just over a week left in window & DC has already said he's looking for a centre back & keeper. Id be looking to play Leadbitter New Centre Back Sweeney/Partington & Brown. Time for Lockyer to be given a break his time will come again. Completely understand the frustration of those that travelled (I felt the same this time last week) but bigger picture it's not all bad

DC said "transition period, 2 - 3 years" - there you have it. Expectations duly lowered. Not being negative but thats what I just heard. He is probably right. UTG

Walsall are on a good run and at home we are on a poor run and away result was a no brainer really, but we have got so used to defying the odds and getting results where we had no business getting them. When it doesn't happen the toys come flying out of the pram

I posted a quote from a Walsall fan on another thread before the game;
"We must be the only team in the EFL with no tactics, no formation, no plan, no idea"
...and even they tonked us.

Annoying about today is like Shrewsbury, Walsall weren't very good but Lines & Lockyer gave away two goals and the ref helped with the third. Down the other Etheridge pulled off two decent saves and MT missed a reasonable chance. At home we'd have probably run out easy winners.
I can't understand why DC spent £50k+ on Partington then keeps him on the bench, or how Lockyer keeps his place but McChrystal is told to do one. Likewise the useless Gaffney over Easter.
I fear getting dragged into a relegation fight if our home form drys up. Although the rose tinters wil try and ridicule anybody suggesting that.

UTG DC is so arrogant at times its beyound belief Maybe, but got impression from that interview he is feeling he needs to build his team up a bit. Sounded genuinely like he was feeling sorry for them I thought. Can only imagine its been a tough week behind the scenes so perhaps no surprises we played pants. But I am sure there is still more tough words to come. Cant see how locks will keep his place at this rate. But he has to be a key part of the team spirit we've had and need. Rebuilding in face of adversity is no easy task

DCs comment on transition period is welcome news..... 2/3 years and I think we are already a year ahead after last years amazing effort.
Stay in L1 this season and let's see who we can attract in the summer ... have been saying it for a while its vital we get to 55 points asap.

I'm not sure about Manse being the answer, but we're definitely missing strong leadership on the pitch. Let's hope Locks gets a rest, and the new players can show us how to defend properly

Harsh, I've said it before, I'm not his biggest fan, but to call him useless is so wrong IMO. "I fear getting dragged into a relegation fight if our home form drys up." Like wise, if our away form betters, we could get into a promotion battle.

Think Locks may need a break to be honest, struggled today. Surprised Partington didn't play, looks a presence.
Would be amazed if the pattern of individual mistake followed by a goal continues in our away games, frustrating.

The chances of our away form improving with the present squad is non existent at present.

Wasn't there today but becomes more and more obvious its a combination central defence / GK issue from what I heard. Bet the final bits of DC's January jigsaw are these positions. Right pub beckons. Catch you later . . .
