We are definitely posing a threat to Lansdown's little Bristol sporting empire, with the money at his disposal £300k (if thats the price) would be peanuts to help scupper the unthinkable from their point of view? I would not put this motive past Lansdown...

He could have gone for nothing in the summer, just saying Wouldn't make it at all acceptable to join City. Let's see what happens though.

Say what you like about him improving his wages but I would be f**king fuming if he goes there. Sends out completely the wrong message. And what message is that? This isn't someone who is already on £100k per week in the Premiership and moves elsewhere to get £200k per week instead for pure greed. This is someone who is probably being offered financial security for life when he doesn't currently have that. I'm sure he does feel the need to be loyal to us but he isn't a lifelong gashead like you are. This is his job and his family's future will be more important to him than football. I mean from the club, not from him.

I mean from the club, not from him. It's not the clubs decision. If no one else makes an offer and Matty wants to stay in Bristol then we cant stop him. The way I look at it is that we could have gotten nothing for him last summer. He said he was staying for now and will go when the money is right for him and Rovers get something out of it as well. As far as I am concerned he HAS shown us a degree of loyalty in this regard. TBH Gasheads complaining about the team, manager and individual players constantly on social media is probably hastened this decision for him. Which I think is something the people who keep complaining forget and will be a problem for us retaining people in the future. He's a great player, has been a fantastic servant for Rovers and hasn't deserved the criticism that has been dealt to him by so called fans of this club. I say good luck to him wherever he goes.

Sounds ridiculous but will he actually get a start in the 82ers team? Haven't they got Tammy Tap-in and the BFG up front now?
Maybe Johnson's planning on bringing him on every time they get a peno?

Well, if the UWE goes down the pan this week too it could possibly be as bad as this forum has been since 2014!

Best possible scenario...
City keep on losing (very likely).
Sack Johnson (even Lansdown will have to listen to the fans at some stage)
New Manager ("Taylor is not part of my plans")
Comes back to the Gas.

I would not put this motive past Lansdown... Added bonus of being a PR exercise (reasserting their fan's perceived dominance over us) and take the pressure off Johnson.

Does Taylor not fully appreciate how much we despise City? I can't think there's one Gas Head who will wish him well at Trashton. Huge error on his part IMO.

Probably not. Genuinely don't think he's Championship quality. We're lucky enough to have a talented manager who gets the very best out of his players. He wouldn't have that at the Gate. It's telling that if it is 300k, no other Championship club has come in for him despite such a low fee.

I cant believe the board wouldn't at least try to sell him to someone else. There are half a dozen teams in the mix. Total PR disaster. We still haven't spent any money on players, UWE is up the wall. if 10 teams met the clause, the final decision will always be Matty's
