Who is our best ever scorer of one on one chances? I reckon Paul Randall, although in recent years Richard Walker was very good. I must admit I don't think this is MT's strong point, but we don't seem to score many of these (Easter v Charlton was one of not many this season).
I was going to say the worst was Graham Hyde, when he and Tait messed up a chance of two on one v Hartlepool. To be fair Howie and Hyde had great games that day and Hyde scored a fantastic technical volley. Pools were top of the table and we were the standard Grayson relegation threatened side. Despite defending brilliantly in depth at home somehow Hyde and Tait got through about 30 yards from goal. Hydey never looked confident but apparently Tait over took him so he couldn't pass as he would have been offside, so GH got closed down and when he cleverly passed the ball backwards to Tait he scuffed the ball wide of an open goal. (And people moan about the current side!)

I would say Stewy right up there.

Stewy without a doubt. Rarely missed a one on one.

Would also agree on Paul Randall. You just knew he would score when David Williams put him through. Seemed to be every time but I guess that is just old age and bad memory kicking in.

Paul Randall, especially when you consider the state of the Eastville pitch

Not your bad memory, he was deadly at one on one's. Scored 2 in my favourite derby match - 1 Nil down, 3-1 up, we knocked City out the cup. Was all the way back in 1984. His second, rounding John Shaw (and sitting him on his arse) was exceptional .

Our assistant manager, and due to his knowledge and working with the lads is a part of the reason we score so many goals.

This is one area I think we are blessed with choice. But it has to be Stewy for me. Always knew he'd score the one on ones

For some reason one on ones don't seem to happen as often these days. Usually when it does it is a breakaway goal when a long ball out of defence is picked up by a fast forward who either rounds the keeper or lobs him. Randall got a few of his that way including his famous lob against Southampton,

Stewart and Cureton in my memory would be my choice. Just a quick question for the OP as you mentioned Graham Hyde, but wasn't he a midfielder?
