I'm sorry, but if the bid came in after the game on Saturday that was plenty of time in reality. Proof in the pudding given City completed a deal in that time. If you've got a player who has scored bags of goals a few years running, you have to assume there will be interest in him. Even more so if he's got a minimum release clause in place - and by all accounts a paltry one at that. This is where we've fallen short IMO. To think Taylor would definitely be here come the end of the window was naive of the board and DC and to not have a series of targets lined up ready to move on immediately is shameful. I guess perhaps we did and we've lodged 4 or 5 bids today and all have been rejected - but the lack of rumours etc. doesn't seem to align with that. Looks like we just have to hope that, given a decent run in the first team, James can now step up and fill MT's shoes. One plus point - if our defensive recruitment has been decent we may not need to score several per game now to take all three points; so even if we do get on the scoresheet a little less, we may still pick up points all the same. good summary. as much as I dislike City they do seem to buy and sell like confetti and do it very fast, whereas we do it very slowly. I guess it's partly because they have Ashton doing that work.

FWIW, I'd have gone for James Vaughan of Bury But we don't though do we, too many times we sell players on the cheap or too late to replace. City are struggling, so go out and get one of the best strikers in the league below. Bradford sign one of the top scorers Wyke from the division below us. Scunny turn down 4 million for their striker. It shows intent, something we never have done and still doesn't look like we are interested in doing. Just a sh** day. I'm sure we will feel better by the time the next game comes around.

I bet Johnson has about a 50% say in it all.

This is EXACTLY my view as well RoverDrive. I am sure Taylor had plenty of offers; who wouldnt want someone who has scored as many goals as him over the last 3 seasons when they have a release clause (which always favours the player). You, me and plenty of other fans would have presumed there would be a lot of interest, so why not the club officials who are supposedly ITK? Like you said it smacks of naivety and we have been seriously outsmarted and f**ked over by our fiercest rivals and that is the hardest thing to take at the moment. It doesnt bode well for this evolution thing they have all got us dribbling about.

You've forgotten that it was out of our hands - Taylor wanted to leave - the clause allowed it - and he did it at the eleventh hour - We have been left with virtually zero time to replace him. it's a bad luck day - that's it . I am MASSIVELY gutted but that's the way things go sometimes. We've still got some exciting players at the club ( Billy, Leads, Montano and the new lads, we'll be ok - the summer will be interesting though !

My son has just asked wael on instagram if there is any signings tonight,he said no but there will be one Thursday,my son said what a loan and he said no permanent??? Is he talking about the ground? What he could mean is that if any players have been released at any time by there clubs we can sign them outside of the window. This would mean that they are free agents when we sign them, not transfers. Not saying this would happen but it might explain what Wael said. Would prefer the ground TBH! UTG!
