Can't see what the fuss is.
The club have not 'appealed' because there is nothing to 'appeal'. Apparently they are thinking of making an official complaint to the EFL, and why not. Release clauses are supposed to be secret and as westwindy posted there are clear procedures to go through.
City are dumb for apparently bidding exactly the amount of the clause.

'Currently under both the transfer rules established by FIFA and the Football Association followed by the clubs playing in England if another club wants to procure the services of a player that is registered with another club they must speak directly with that club and not to the player or his agent. The individual player and the agent who represents him will only be brought in for discussions with the potential purchasing club once the two clubs have agreed on a fee' So if there was any discussion between the sh*t and MT and or his agent (tapping up)and it can be proved a sanction would follow.'Following a high profile case in 2005 the sanctions imposed were the following: A fine and a suspended three point sentence for the club A fine for the manager A fine for the player A fine and a revocation of the licence for the agent'. www.inbrief.co.uk/football-law/football-player-under-contract-approach-clubs/In addition if a party to the contract broke a confidentiality clause (if one was inserted as it should have been in the contact) then the aggrieved club could pursue damages through the Courts for losses suffered as a consequence. I do hope there is concrete evidence if not then best just to let it pass. But i bet nearly 50% of transfers dont happen via the rules

If they didn't know the release fee they would not have offered 300 k, it is bent and they should pay the other 1.2 million to reach market value.

Sadly I can't see that a) we'd be smart enough to make the release clause an obscure amount like that, nor b) that C*ty would be foolish enough to match it exactly. We live in hope though, as that really would be divine justice.

If football is as corrupt as it's made out to be, it will only take a little brown envelope from Guernsey to the FA bods for all this will blow over.

Not sure if anyone's mentioned it but just because 300k was plastered everywhere as the release clause does not mean it was 300k.
If he went for anything over 300k, then this could get interesting.

Guess we'll just have to wait for the accounts to come out.

Even Steve Phillips mentioned it was £300K but I doubt it makes any difference, as MT or his agent clearly leaked the correct figure, whatever it was.

Or below 300k. I think it's interesting that only 1 champ club came in for him and it seems there is some shady reason why.
