Yes, a sensible and rational decision and let's get on with the future. Let's move on. Mind you the lesson to learn is not let our best players get to the end of their contracts in the first place if we can avoid it. But as a lower league club that's often easier said than done! Not sure we could do much different last week when he went. UTG! Agree, although I do find the whole thing of "letting" his contract run out very confusing. I can't think for one moment the old board not discussing his contract with DC/MT or his Agent, I expect we were informed of his expectation well in advance & I would also assume that DC would have discussed this with the new board too. ISTM that he didn't want to be here or renew his contract, so I wouldn't blame the club ( old or current owners ), he couldn't get what he wanted in the summer so stayed on , knowing where he wanted to end up all along. it was also posted on this forum months ago that there was a 300k release clause so someone obviously spilt the beans SH said last week that there had been insider dealings & wasn't at all happy about it, but proving it & who was responsible is another matter. Club is right not to drag it on, let him rot with the rest of the s*** over there. The only memory I have of him is smacking it over the bar from 2yards on Saturday. UTG!! Agree toddy. All your arguments are sound and whatever the rumours were someone, after he signed his contract with the release clause, disclosed confidential information to BCFC and I suspect it was him or his agent. That's wrong and is against the rules and leaves a sense of betrayal but it's gone, finished, dusted and let's forget about him. I didn't want to go into detail because because he's gone, end of and we need closure on him now. Let's move on and concentrate on us. UTG!

Means absolutely nothing. Us and them cannot have our own transfer policy whether we like it or not. We all have rules to obey. Either they did nowt wrong or they did and have paid us off. There is no third way. If they decide to buy another of ours it is business as usual. If out of contract they can take for nowt, depending on their age. if not they have to make an agreed bid. The bottom line is that our previous owners allowed his contract to run down, so whether they cheated or not, it's our own fault. why blame Sir Nick, if the current board had offered him a very large contract he would have stayed. So based on your logic we must now offer Billy Bob a five year £10,000 per week contract to stop it happening again ? Was about to post the same. I thought gasinciders daily post of Higgs bashing was behind him? Obviously not. Its been a year now, and some people can't/won't move on.
