There were 1189 Swindon at the game (away fans) so on a par with Sheff Utd. So 1400 gas missing since then. Shame really, but of course there were a lot less kids in the family enclosure. Some parents don't like taking the little ones to night games per se, or indeed when it was a miserable night weather wise. ( At least most of the rain had stopped by match time)
Some are saying that the crowd looked bigger than declared. Don't know about that coz there was quite a lot of room on the right hand side of the Thatchers. Not to mention the family section as above.

When you factor in that it was the second home game in 4 days and also Valentine's Day, then I think 9175 was an excellent crowd. Not sure why some people think otherwise.

I was going on the 10557 v Swindon when I don't think there were as many Swindon fans as Sheffield United but maybe I was wrong. I know that some games are going to have to fall on a Tuesday evening, but why have our games against arguably the best two sides in the league, Bolton and Sheff. Utd fallen in midweek slots? Both those games if played on a Saturday would have drawn at least 1500 more home fans, and I would imagine a lot of our fans missed the aways. I know I have because of work and school next day for my son. I know the fixtures are generated at random, but surely someone could have a look and adjust according to distances to be travelled. someone else mentioned the need to strengthen midfield and attack. They're quite right. I would add the caveat that Lumley and Sweeney need to be signed up as well. If they truly want to be at the top table the owners are going to have to offer some serious money to DC because there's only so far you can go with freebies and previous under achievers. If the stadium gets the green light, I would hope and expect to see some serious transfer activity during the summer.

I read somewhere that a group of people sit down and work the fixtures out and that they're not randomly selected by a computer.

Its done by IT company Atos Origin.

There is clearly some set criteria in the algorithms, ie the Sh*t can't be drawn at home when the Baloon Fiesta is on and we alternate home and away with them usually.

Yes and then a group sit down and go through it to make sure that clubs from the same city don't play at home in the same day, clubs from up north don't play at home on the same day as the north run etc. There are so many events that can clash that a group of people sat down trawling through it all is the only way to come up with the final fixture list. It actually all starts off with a questionnaire that's sent to all the clubs to find out their preferences. For example in Bristol we've got the Balloon fiesta to think about.
