I really don't care about the "size" of the fee!! Are they good enough? Surely that's all that matters. I do. Just like I care about the size of the fee when we sell a player. Everyone would be more happy if we sold a player for £1m than £500k because we would be £500k better off. So equally, people should be happy if we signed a player for free rather than £500k because again we would be £500k better off. Both the same thing really. UTG!

Not for me. Non league journeyman who's 28 in march. There's a reason why he hasn't made it already and would suggest there's not much improvement left in him. Also he doesn't look the quickest so will he get the space like he does in the conference? Of course he looks a good finisher and goals tally speaks for itself but I'd hope there are better options. If Miller is viewed as a replacement for Easter then its not a bad signing, that is if his persona fits in with how DC likes his squad to be. I guess its about having a selection of different strikers who bring their different attributes to the table.

In the Scunny preview DC said he's made half a million on transfers, so the maths could be done if someone had the time! Am I right in thinking the only people we've got fees for in DC's reign are Snake, Smudge and Santos??(compensation). And the people we've paid fees for are Bliss, Gaffers, Partington and Burn. So if we got £300k for old Snakey, the formula would be something along the lines of: (Smudge & Santos) - (Bliss, Gaffers, Partington & Burn) = £200k I thought he said £500K this season, or was it in total, plus what about the lad at Wolves who made his debut recently? I can't see we paid a transfer fee for Burn?

We need to replace all our attackers for next season to stand still let alone move forwards so hopefully we have a few quid to spend.

I don't think we were really that interested in him anyway, but probably burnt his bridges with DC after he rebuffed us.

"an undisclosed fee, which could rise long-term through appearance-based add-on clauses" Read more at www.expressandstar.com/sport/wolverhampton-wanderers-fc/2015/01/07/wolves-land-donovan-wilson-permanently/#tbC76fvK2CqpgKwO.99we did pay for Burn.

Didn't the 5hit try and sign Dack last year? I seem to remember £1 m plus being mentioned. Not the sort of money we would spend at this stage of our evolution. I expect he will go to a Championship club next season. agree on the top bit. I thought he had turned down City but seems more like the club never let them talk to him. Problem with the second bit is apparently he's still in contract so this summer would cost a lot of money ("On 16 April 2014, Dack signed a new four-year deal keeping him contracted at Gillingham until June 2018."). Gills will surely struggle to keep him happy with a relegation fight. www.gillinghamfootballclub.com/news/article/dack-signs-new-deal-apr-16-1491698.aspx

Can't recall any rebuffing? exactly. No brainer TBH. Dover know they'll lose him this summer for free so they would have been happy to agree to £100/200k maybe, but why would the player want that even if the club agreed. In the summer he can try to get that sort of money given to HIM as a signing on fee and/or via wages. a simple example of how hard / cost effective it is to get decent players in january.

In response to the question of who have we received fees for. We have received compensation for a few youngsters as well as Donovan Wilson. Marcus Beauchamp and Ollie Mehew joined Norwich and Blackburn respectively which I imagine led to compensation. I think there has been others but can't remember them anyone?
Once we have a proper youth setup hopefully we will produce lots of our own and the elite player legalized poaching system will start to work in our favour.

On the flip side if we did make an offer then he had a guaranteed move now to a decent Div 1 side, come the summer he may have to settle for a lower league club/lower wages if we've lost interest by then.

We need three attackers in the summer; will have to spend money, unlikely to make much further progress with free signings, loans and or kids from other clubs academies.

Twentypence said this is common for strikers these days so assume there are plenty out there if you know the right agents?

As is now well known MT's release clause was driven by him/his agent......it was that or see him leave for nothing in the Summer.....therefore the release clause we 'gave' was not stupid it was a simple and at the time sensible business decision.

Is the £100k figure for Partington right? Was there ever actually confirmation of this or is it a bit of guesswork on your part. Also, does anyone have any idea if we did actually pay a fee for Burn? (and if so how much?) I know it's just the modern game but I do get frustrated when we don't get to find out transfer fees. Not for the same reason as some who want us to spend a fortune on players all the time. I would love to find out we got Burn on a free and only paid about £20k for Partington. UTG! We paid at least 80k for Partington as Eastleigh announced it as their record transfer which I believe was 80k before, I'm sure someone will confirm? I agree with you that it is frustrating not knowing the actual fees involved? Especially with what happened with sh** snake! I'm under the impression it was £80,000 with another £20,000 after so many performances

So everyone saying he's failed in the past..vardy failed at Sheffield Wednesday it he hasn't done too bad...miller scores a hatrick yesterday and is on fire..we create a lot of chances but don't have a cf that has the instinct to get in there so to me if there's a real chance of signing him we should be up for it...there's not many league one clubs with our small budget so we would be the only league one options to him and I'm sure he would want to play at the highest level he could...
