If that's the case then I'm not surprised. I'm sure DC will have his targets in attack and I hope it's a young lad on his wY up not someone looking for a contract on his way down.UTG!
Surely if he joins us he will be on his way up?
I first noticed Miller while watching FGR V Dover Play Offs last season; I liked the look of both Dovers strikers (Payne the other one) and Deverdics in midfield.
Miller especially was all action, chased everything, strong, good in the air, bit of a nasty streak and knew where the net was.
Obviously we don't know what Dover were asking in Jan, but obviously they felt is was worth sacrificing a fee to keep him until the summer.
When I said that, I meant other strikers generally and not Miller. You're right about Miller on his way up, I'm just not sure he's DC type of player, character wise. And you are right about his qualities. You may be correct and DC will go for him in the Summer, whatever it will be interesting this Summer. UTG!

I gather DC may not rate him, even taking into account his record of goal scoring. Dc made an enquiry for him and decided 300k was too much when he was available for free in summer. Don't think that suggests he doesn't rate him. In the summer we will be in the mix with every other team that wants to sign him. The £300k or whatever it really was is the price to jump the queue and reduce the competition. For whatever reason the club were not prepared to pay the price which in effect was only the Taylor money..

Luckily, really when you think about it, speculative threads like this are practically redundant for us now. That's for other clubs. All we should be wondering is what amazing gem we've never heard of is DC about to pull out of nowhere to improve this great squad even more. UTG!

Don't ruin the feel good factor
Lol. In all seriousness, I rate the guy, I really believe he's going to start hitting the net for us soon. Also, he seems to have the DC type attitude - waits patiently for his turn to play, works his socks off when he's on the pitch. Strikers can work till their balls drag on the ground but in the end they have to score goals - he hasn't got it (at L1 level) . Do you remember the guy that Ward brought in up front to lead the line (name escapes me now, probably cos he never scored - ha ha !!) - he worked his socks off but couldn't score and so we went down.

Does DC have a type of player though? From what ive heard Taylor isn't the most likeable individual and that was before he stiffed us. As long as they are winners I don't think DC cares.
Same can be said of Jamie Vardy, seems like a right chavvy twat on social media and interviews...but he scores goals and plays for England. Life just isn't fair sometimes!

I understand what you're saying LMW about DC-type players and would agree with all you've said and perhaps there are not DC -type players but there does seem to be a bit of a pattern. He definitely likes players such as Monkhouse, Lawrence, Puddy and Gos who were players he knew and trusted to do a specific job for him. That would include players through the Salisbury link. Then there are players like Bodin and Gaffney who he had on loan, liked them and thought they could do a job. Then from the relegation season players like Macca, Milds, OC, TL, LB who he trusts completely and then there is Stuart Sinclair who DC will even change the system to find a place for. The thing about all these players imo is they are good team players, good characters who always put the team first and won't rock or spoil any changing room as well as being good players. Perhaps it's just me and Miller would be a good fit into that changing room, I just don't think he would be but if I'm proved wrong and we sign him and he scores 20 goals next season you can call me out!! 😀 UTG!

What makes you think Miller wouldn't be a good fit, are you basing that solely on the one incident whilst he was at Luton, for which he was never found guilty, which is similar to Monty whilst he was at Oldham?
It looks from these goals the perfect replacement for the snake?

If that's aimed at me Topper it's just an opinion nothing to do with Luton, as you say was found not guilty. I say it for footballing reasons and as I said earlier in the thread there's an almost obsession with him. It may work out all right but it's getting like 2012 when Magoo was chasing Constable for the whole summer and didn't get him and had no plan B. Fortunately DC is in charge now and will have a few targets and I am happy to trust him. I am sure you may call me out if I'm wrong but there are other good strikers out there. UTG!

Not sure you can say a player doesn't have the right character to fit in at Rovers without knowing anything about is character. As far as an obsession I think that's taking this thread a bit too far as nobody is demanding DC signs him in the summer.

Mmm. 6 pages on one striker at another club. If not obsession then verging on it. But hey this is a forum and everyone has the right to a view. UTG!

Hopefully we have a plan either way. But definitely don't think 'Darrell doesn't rate him' is correct. He obviously rated him enough to enquire!

Although some of DC's strikers in the past have been a bit dubious I have confidence he has learned enough this season to know what we require in terms of standard for league one.
Miller is just one who caught my eye but im sure there are many others out there who fit the bill.

And he has done well enough, despite some dubious ones, to put an 11 out that has got us two promotions. In a strange way he has found choosing keepers almost as difficult though he seems to have chosen a good one for the moment! UTG!

I guess that's down to the fact we've no idea who else DC has in mind to replace the snake, not that fans are obsessed we sign Miller. If he doesn't sign for us it'll be interesting to see where he goes and how he gets on at his new club compared to whoever DC brings in.

Absolutely, and just as the players have to learn and adapt each season, the same goes for the manager, and it has to be said everyone has done brilliantly thus far!
This guy would be a good targetman in L1;

On 3 June 2014, Payne signed for Dover Athletic. He was the club's top scorer in both of his seasons with the Kent club, and was named Players' Player of the Year for the 2015–16 season. On 18 May 2016, Payne signed for Barnsley on a two-year contract with the option to extend for another year. He signed on loan for Shrewsbury Town for the remainder of the season in January 2017 10 league games 0 goals so far!!
