"Don't expect any marque signings" not sure what these actually are but if we were genuinely going to buy Miller for £100/200K wouldn't that be classed as one? Assuming MT's money is still in the bank why wouldn't DC spend it this summer on one or two new strikers?
Apart from defence/striker I feel we need a replacement for Mansell plus two left wingers and also a back up right winger. I'd be looking to try and move on last summers two signings, Hartley & Moore as they simply aren't good enough, although Hartley maybe good enough for the bench if DC signs Sweeney or somebody similar.

Thats a shame as this guy could have done a job.. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Marquis

Oh dear, near consensus probably upsets a lot of those who like to come on forums for a bit of what I'm sure they'd describe as 'banter' but I have to agree with the OP, I too would probably get rid of all of the front line, maybe keep Harrison (tin hat on) but we need two or three proven scorers at this level, maybe Tom Pope, currently at Bury, surely we could tempt him? I'm not sure about getting rid of the front line completely, because as we've seen its hard to replace 'squad' players with similar or better quality. We're not Sheffield United and it's not like we're moving into the new ground in August, a 'quality' 25 isn't going to happen I don't think. Ellis and Gaffney certainly have their qualities and I think should stay, glad James is being given a chance but based on what I've seen not sure he'll prosper here enough to sign him. Maybe needs a step down from L1. Two new forwards in the summer and I think the front line would be suitable, and there's still a bit of continuation there. Yes, a more balanced response. We will still need good squad players and who knows the right one player in attack might also link well with TG or EH. UTG!

Lucas the answer? Couldn't get in the Boreham Wood side - I think not.

try keep sweeney and lumnley.Rhe rest if the defenders will do at this level.
midfield, another wide option and center midfielder.
3 strikers, 2 minimum and keep gaffeney (target man) . 2 others strikers need to put shits into the opposition and be our main 2. James return from loan, Harrison out for me.
