I can't see the fuss. We rarely create an atmosphere standing now and the terrace is packed. All seater stadiums can create a noise, just watch match of the day for proof. Also, many sets of fans stand anyway. The Chelsea fans in the shed don't sit down at all. Visit some prem stadia instead of watching motd if you think that, most of them could be cricket matches. I've been to a few.

The Emirates is ok, they make more noise bitching about Wenger these days. Old Trafford is noisy if you are near the Stretford End but fairly quiet if you are somewhere in the middle of the Charlton or Fergie stands. Didn't think much of Man C new ground either. I have seen league games in all of those stadiums.

It looks as though the only way we can enjoy a cracking atmosphere in an all seater stadium is on away games for a few more years yet!

I have seen league games in all of those stadiums. Most grounds can be noisy or quiet depending on the entertainment. I have been to anfield a few times and it has been raucous and dead in the same match. Stamford Bridge for champs league, not bad but the shed do not sit down. Also been to Emirates, and OT plus others in PL over the years. The notion of all seaters being lacking it atmosphere compared to standing is more to do with the fans. A well organised fans group can generate noise in an open field sat down. Just look at the foreign teams or some of the small nations at Wembley for example who regularly out perform 80k home fans. Spurs, Palace, Preston, Sunderland, Pompey, Everton, Arsenal, are other supporters I've either been in with or opposite who have made plenty of atmosphere in seated stands for prolonged periods of a match. On this forum in particular, we are guilty of making excuses for ourselves rather than getting on with it. People are quicker to complain than encourage in my experience.

I remember that famous cup game at Derby County when the sat down Rovers supports sang their hearts out. That was an all seater stadium.
One of the stewards remarked to my brother that we where by far the noisiest travelling supporters he had witnessed

The atmospheres or lack of is not down to all seater stadiums. It's down to the general change of people going to watch the bigger top flight clubs. The majority of people who attend the bigger clubs games are tourists, day trippers and foreigners. And the majority of people who watch clubs like Swansea, Hull, Bournemouth, Brighton etc who have recently become Premier League clubs are all Johnny Come lately's who have jumped on the bandwagon because their local side has had a bit of success. Those clubs were getting crowds of a few thousand not long ago. The clubs in The Premier League where you find the best atmospheres are/were at Spurs, Crystal Palace, Stoke, Burnley, Leicester and West Ham(before they moved), because the people who attend are generally still their hardcore support. West Hams atmosphere is terrible now because 25,000 people have just suddenly turned up and it'll be the same for Spurs. It'll be the same at UWE. These days if you want a decent atmosphere you have to go to the away games. Its the same with a lot of premier league clubs now. The Emirates for example is often like a library, full of tourists and day trippers as you say. Go to one of their away games and its the complete opposite. Whether its 1,000 or 10,000 away fans, there is normally a decent atmosphere, everyone stood up etc.

I remember Ravaneli falling down every 2 mins as if he'd been shot. First time I'd seen diving like that in the flesh, 7,000 of us could see he was diving, yet the ref couldn't.....

Probably the one we lost 1 - 0 and were robbed, Flip flop (Andy Sandell) had a perfectly good goal disallowed. Twannies!
