Just read this on one sh** team in Bristol. Still think SL should approach UWE and say "if your deal with Rovers does fall through, then Bristol sports would step in and build a indoor athletics arena there" I think UWE would get a lot more out of that, Tennis, Badminton, athletics, Gymnastics (our locals have to travel to Plymouth to train for national level) indoor tracks, basketball, handball, netball, large seating indoor venue for music / lectures / exhibitions, they would get a hell of a lot more use and income for it than football stadium - as well as Bristol / the area needing a facility like that a lot more than another footie stadium. What a pr..k Where is the other footie stadium? There is a rugby ground opposite Fords at Trashcan Gate, but can't seem to find a footie stadium other than the Mem.

Not sure about the indoor athletics as that would be too big for the wickes site most likely. Maybe a basketball, gymnastics, netball arena ? doesn't he have basketball in his Bristol sports compendium ? I heard he wanted to buy Gloucestershire cricket club and move them south of the river too...but even he would realise you cant have Gloucestershire playing at home in the county of somerset...
But they don't play in Gloucestershire either? Traditionally they do , as the county ground was at one time in Gloucestershire as was suburbs such as Southmead , but also cheltenham and Gloucester are in Gloucestershire

I would argue that events this season have blown "they're nothing to do with us" out of the water.
Most want BCFC threads in general sport, yet we had our closest rivals ruin our season through greater budgets and spitefully using us to take the heat off them.
SL is a big threat to us, so are they. We've had grounds burned down, players assaulted and threatened and now players taken off us at crucial points.
They have had a direct and explicit involvement with out fortunes, much greater than vice versa. Our main error in the eyes of 82 is that we were actually better than them for a long time and that it was felt justified ongoing campaigns of hate.
We are a genuine case of "it is not 6 of one and half a dozen of the other" and we do need to be alive.to it I am registering my dissatisfaction regarding thread banning and also be aware that SL actions, not his words, have hinted at a goal of eliminating us (ah, his words said that too), and this idea that we can stick our fingers in our ears and believe that by ignoring our aggressive neighbours they will juts go away needs to stop.

I can confirm, that on a closer inspection of the metal posts, that some of the concrete has in fact set correctly and the posts look firm and hard to touch..

But they don't play in Gloucestershire either? They do....they play matches around the county as well as in Bristol. Bristol became a county back in the 14th century prior to that it was in Gloucestershire ,I think redcliffe became part of Bristol in about 1370 ish maybe the first area south of the river to be part of Bristol ? Still the point being south Bristol isn't Gloucestershire and never has been.

Reccliffe isn't south of river avon but is south of the floating harbour. The floating harbour is the river Avon, with lock gates to keep the water level constant.

Reccliffe isn't south of river avon but is south of the floating harbour. Yeah a bit confusing but I believe the "river avon" section you are referring to is the new cut. A stetch about two miles long from Cumberland basin through to the netham locks. built around the start of the 1800's. Seemingly moving Redcliffe from south to north of the river. The real river is the part that flows past the old courage building and castle park.

Perfectly correct and if the new cut had not been built vast areas would have been flooded everytime the tide came in due to the floating harbour lock gates keeping the water in and the incoming tide out. The new cut quite simply was a safety valve as the floating harbour essentially blocked the Avon.

Yes I guess the lock gates would have caused mass flooding across bower ashton ,ashton gate ,southville and Bedminster......still Lansdown could have included water polo in his franchise
