My understanding is that the original plans drawn up by the previous owners of the land still stood but had the conditions on it. The council agreed to change that so we then completed the purchase. We are now drawing up revised plans which will be submitted for planning approval shortly. The press suggested that this would be end of April or early May. Henbury has previously stated that permission would take 16 weeks or so and the intention is for the team to play there in June 2018. An initial statement earlier this year by both SH and Wael for the team to move in June 2017 seems to be no longer preferred or realistic. What I am struggling to understand is - why did we wait for planning approval, only to change plans and apply for approval a second time? Why not just draw up your final plans and seek planning approval once? The conditions in the original planning permission would have made the site useless to Rovers, especially on hours the site could be used and use by professional teams. Getting these removed was the purpose of going back to South Glos. and was essential in the land purchase. Now is the chance to properly draw up the technical plans for the buildings, etc. on a site that Dwane Sports now own. What I do wish, is that the Chairman didn't make overambitious statements. If it was likely to take longer to get the proper facilities constructed and pitches laid, just say so.

To be fair DC also talked about pre-season training taking place at The Colony, so either plans are now taking longer than expected to draw up (how long does it take to design a clubhouse!) or there's another issue delaying seeking pp.

Wow, I told Ras that one day someone would use "sense" and "Gaschat" in the same sentence. Woo woo! I miss Ras As a matter of interest, what's happened to him?

They were going to look at other clubs' training grounds for ideas, Real Madrid and Fleetwood to begin with I think. If you are interested I posted copies of The Fleetwood training ground plans and the previous Colony Farm plans back on page 7 for comparison. Fleetwood's is a two storey building with additional facilities such as a gym, classrooms, offices, etc, whereas the Colony Farm design is a very low key single storey building with minimal accommodation beyond the changing rooms. I suspect that the new plans are looking at phasing to enable the site infrastructure to be upgraded in line with the category status of the academy as well as the first team facilities. Coincidentally a colleague of mine has recently completed a design for a similar building type for the University of South Wales, with a covered pitch, which I suspect is more like the kind of thing we would eventually like to see (as long as it's blue not red).

I asked a perfectly sensible question, I would appreciate a sensible answer. Then again is there any sensible people on here accept me obviously but there is only one of me unfortunately, I can't help that I'm afraid as I was born like it My understanding is that the original plans drawn up by the previous owners of the land still stood but had the conditions on it. Hearsay as I wasn't there - at the WSM AGM (whatever) SH revealed to the gathering that the new training facility would be ready for the team to move in during June 2018. A tad disappointing I feel that he didn't feel the need to put something on the club website to that effect so we (the supporters) know - I really think he underestimates the interest fans of this club show in the club. Particularly when he knew that a statement had been issued earlier saying that the team would be moving in during June 2017 ready for pre-season training. There was a man up there yesterday with a long grey beard, a dirty old duffle coat and a jar of something - crested newts I think - really can't think what he was up to!! Oh and a new sign that I hadn't seen before - "Construction Traffic this way" - wow progress.
