Can remember talking to him after he was named man of the match in a very early FFSC sponsored game. A gentleman sums him up. Good luck to a player who can walk away with his head held high, was immense at Wembley as well as countless other occasions in his time with us. Thank you Macca!

Bad move, better defender than Hartley, better understanding with Locks than Clarke - Salter, was always advising and helping Leadbitter. Does this mean they are going to get Sweeney next season?

I recall that there was some discussion on the forums suggesting that he was a poor choice for MoM that day, but up in the Dribuild the way he organised, encouraged, and generally helped all the players around him was so clear to see. Like a few others I felt he still had something to offer us and was sad at the time of the recent announcement that he would have no further part to play - especially as at the time we had absolutely zero CH backup. I hope that now as a free agent he quickly gets fixed up with a club and perhaps we get to see him at the Mem again and get the chance to show him our appreciation for all he has done for the club.

Some of the most vivid Rovers memories with Mark playing for the gas - pure emotion at Wembley, him celebrating an epic assist in front of the Thatchers when thrashing Alfreton and him hitting the crossbar on our darkest day v Mansfield. Top pro and instrumental in getting our Rovers back. Hope he's at the game tomorrow so the fans can say goodbye.

Remember bumping into him at the ground once during the week. We had a brief chat about golf and I could not understand a fecking word he said! What a great guy and player though. Did we get him on a free? Has to go down as superb piece of business. Good luck in the future and thanks for the blood and sweat you shed for our club 👍🏻

In spite of losing the game at Ashton gate, his headed equaliser in front of a packed away end was as memorable as Hintons effort in front of us assembled gasheads at Fulham in the FA cup draw in the Trollope era.

I'll never forget that moment when he dropped to his Knees in what can only be described as pure relief, you can't fake that , it just shows the commitment and honesty of a player who was a great ambassador for the shirt, it's what the current side has been built on, we should always be grateful for top blokes like Macca, something the sh**e will never experience. A good player for us, a better leader and an even better man. We couldn't have done what we've done over the past couple of years without him. Good luck for the future, Mark.

THANK YOU MACCA!! Very important member of a squad that will forever carry the name of saviours of Bristol Rovers F.C. Would be most fitting if we were able to give him a proper send off.

I wonder if it's possible to get this thread sent over to MT and explain to him that THIS is how the Gas responds to someone who was 'faithful and true' to Rovers. It is a shame that he has been let go but I do trust in DC and he has to make decisions about the future of the club. Macca will always get a huge response if ever he visits us again. Mark McCrystal, I raise my hat to you and thank you for all you have done for our club. You may now enter the room marked 'Legends'.
