That's fair enough Steve (and Topper) I wasn't there so can't say and was trying to make a point about referees generally not about Tuesday. I respect that you see all of Rovers matches and will have a good comparison with other refs. Having seen the number of matches you do you will have a good benchmark to measure him against, I don't. But I will see 30-40 matches a season and probably 20 or so as a neutral and that is different and gives a very different perspective on referees. He did sound very poor. I still feel that fans of clubs see matches very differently in the heat of the moment compared to a neutral who can sometimes see it just as a decision. And my earlier point about expecting the FA to do something is tantamount to believing in fairies at the bottom of the garden! But I agree with you about the inconsistency being so frustrating esp when people have spent money, time and effort to go to a match 200 miles away. Let's hope for someone a lot better tomorrow. UTG!

I think it's just part of supporting the team. I think when we're shouting 'you don't know what you're doing,' most of us realise they are probably actually quite good at refereeing, and know their stuff. And when we shout for a throw-in, for example, sometimes we know full well it's not really ours, or it's a fifty-fifty, and we really don't know whose throw-in it is. And sometimes when we shout 'cheat' at a player, we don't really think he's cheating, we're just trying to wind him up, etc. And sometimes when we scream for a hand-ball in the penalty area, it's only really wishful thinking, and we'd be delighted if the ref gave a pen, but we don't really think it is one. Personally I like that about going to games, and I think the match-day experience would be the poorer, were we to watch the game and quietly comment from as neutral a position as we can manage on a reasonable synopsis of the recent play. Or if we were to make a noise, but be so unbiased as to shout stuff like 'Who's the highly-qualified, dedicated sports arbitrator without whom we wouldn't even be able to even hold the match in the black?' or 'to be fair you're trying your best and we fully realise that and you know you are!'

I agree with all that Antonio and that's why I always prefer watching Rovers where I am a fan and involved and not Bournemouth where I'm a neutral. UTG!

Disagree. I think we should judge the refereeing impartially and clap the opposition good play with shouts of 'Bravo', and 'I say, well played chaps,' and all that. Oh all right then = The referee's a w****r
