I feel for James as he clearly works hard, but his job is to score goals and currently he is not doing that and most of the time doesn't look like doing that.
They even gave him a penalty to end his drought and he failed. Next they will leave a cow and a banjo out on the pitch for his pre match warm-up.

Oh come on, if we are going to move forward then if Easter does stay, he will play a very, very minor role at the club. What has "moving forward" got to do with immediately booting out any player on their 35th birthday? If a player has skill and a good attitude why can they not form part of the club's future as they "move forward"? I mean thank god United shipped out Giggs and Scholes at 35. And can you imagine what a laughing stock we would be if we had a former striker as our assistant manager or a former defender as a senior coach? How many games had Giggs and Scholes played the season they were 35? Had they been told they had no future at Manure? We're they still playing at the highest level they'd ever played at? Other than that I can't find any fault with your analogy. Mind you I do struggle to tell the difference between apples and pears.

Your difficulty with apples and pears might have something to do with your inability to read. They're quite clearly labelled these days you know. As for the rest of it I quite clearly posted above: "The comparison is about the needs of the club and the player resources currently available to them". Ta ta.

Perhaps Jamie Cureton would have been a better comparison, as these stats show a striker over 35 yr old can continue to score league goals:
Exeter 03 Aug, 10 28 Jun, 11 39 (7) 20 Aged 35 at start of the season Leyton Orient 28 Jun, 11 31 Jul, 12 9 (10) 1 Aged 36 Exeter 31 Jul, 12 17 Jun, 13 38 (2) 21 Aged 37 Cheltenham 17 Jun, 13 24 Jul, 14 23 (12) 11 Aged 38 Dag & Red 24 Jul, 14 22 Sep, 16 61 (22) 26 Aged 39

Cureton was a fox in the box. Regularly scored goals throughout his career.

When you're in a hole ... When you are a (***)hole... inb4 this is exactly the sort of think you would complain about if it was aimed at you.

I'm guessing as Easter has now played all parties have reached the agreement that I was surprised wasn't reached before the announcement.

Going to hold my hands up, I don't often back track but think I will now.
Having watched Luke James in training yesterday, you can just see he isn't a natural striker at all and hasn't really learned the position, not making runs into the box or getting in the right positions, he seems too deep at times.
I have backed him all the way, and he still has potential to be good in the future but with a heavy heart, I don't think we should sign him.
Also every time Easter comes on for him in matches, his experience and composure over James is so telling.
I will follow his career with interest though as I do like the bloke and his work rate has always been faultless. Maybe a season or 2 in the conference/league 2 is what he needs.

Or to become a different type of footballer, one that does not require scoring goals to get on the team sheet, like sinclair, oh but he scores, err say a winger......we have 3 and they all score, errr what about if we can't sign lumley
