Not sure you can judge a player on just one training session? Although MS did say he was use to playing a deeper role in the past but that pen miss in the home game seems to have destroyed him, as he's been a shadow of the player he was since then. Perhaps with one goal early on after the snake left he might have looked a different player for us.

As James got subbed off against Oldham on Monday a wag behind us started singing "Luke James he scores when he wants" to much amusement because we all know that much as we want him to be good enough he is a long way short.
He's had plenty of chances now and all that he's proved is that the claim that he's Taylor's replacement is either very worrying or an insult to our intelligence.

So if most of the chances come from head height lumps up field, he is supposed to score from those then ? Play his game, like we did with the snake and he will score

I wish the guy all the success as a footballer, but to gamble on signing a guy who hasn't found the net all season would be madness. If we were to sign James, I would still expect us to go out and get 2 or 3 other strikers this summer.
We need at very least 6 signings this summer.
GK - Lumley would be first signing of make, we can't continue having loan keepers. CB - Sweeney would be great. CM - Added Competition for lines) wide man - Moore/Montano are hit and miss. CFs - We have none able to score, 3/4 to bring in.
That is what I think we need to bring in to build around the core we have contracts in place for next season. Suppose you'd have to look at squad players to replace players out of contract also.

If we can't sign Lumley and Sweeny again and do sign James and rely on him for goals we'll really struggle. Lums and Sweens signed on and 3 new strikers needed

DC told us when he said James was going to get his chance that he would score goals because the way we play will create chances. He hasn't scored not even from a penalty he has had precious few chances to score and you want to blame that on the way DC sets us up to play and suggest he needs to change the formula that has worked for the last two and a half years rather than see any inadequacies in the player! Luke James isn't good enough for a progressive league one team. It's a fact that should now be obvious to anyone no matter how much they wish it wasn't true.

Out of his depth at Walsall/Vale/Coventry.Woefully inadequate. Will be amazed if he comes back.Physically not up to it and falls over far too much.Need a lot better up front if we are to progress.

I've got a terrible feeling DC will sign him. 3 goals in 96 games is the stat I've heard. That's not a promotion challenging striker's stats.

How many goals did the snake score with his back to goal ? How many goals did the snake score with one-on-ones ? Take out his penalty goals, a lot of his goals are 6 yard tap ins How many 6 yard tap in chances has Luke James Had/missed ?

Absolutely; even I would be disappointed with those stats, and i'm almost 40 and 15 stone

Chances that James doesn't get because his positional play isn't on the same planet as Taylor's or even the same planet as a striker worthy of the name.

In a recent interview, DC said "we are playing Luke in a position he is not used to as a striker, but will come good".... Luke is following orders from DC and if DC is playing him out of his natural position then we know who to blame don't we......
