The thing I find scary is just how much we missed Sweeney ..... suddenly Lockyer was back to his old ways and the rest of the defence looked less than impressive. Jonny Burn looked way less effective which surprised me and Bob Harris fills me with zero confidence .....he's dangerous in our own penalty area. There is a lot being made of signing Joe and Ryan in the summer .... let's just hope we have a chance with both because if not we are back to square one with a very very poor defence. The only other thing I would add is DC needs to hold up his hands with Byron Moore and say he got it wrong ..... the lad is nowhere near good enough and should be paid up in the summer. I think DC knew Byron Moore was a bit of a gamble when he signed for us as it's was pretty well know he was a good player who lost his way and form following a tragic bereavement. As we know, getting a player back on track when things have gone wrong in their life is not easy and so far the sparkle he showed at Crewe has not returned. At present he seems a passenger when he plays, I think it might be would encouraging the lad to move on but he has a second year on his contract so not really in our hands. Moore had a great game for us at Oxford.

Let me get this right you can praise players when we win but cant criticise when they lose, even as badly as they performed yesterday? Err, ok then. Who has ever in the history of this forum ever truthfully said or even implied this? If someone disagrees with someone else's view they are not shutting down the conversation or denying them the right to an opinion. This goes for those perceived to be more glass half-full and those who are more glass half-empty. Criticism is fine but it's whether the criticism is justified. 90% of the time posters look at the game with hindsight and say "if they'd done x, y and z" like I thought then we would have won. They will then criticise our manager and team harshly for not doing plan x, y or z (without any chance of us ever playing that fixture again with plan x, y or z so effectively they're covered and can trumpet and applaud their tactical nous and if only Clarke would hand them the reigns we'd win every game.... ...oh yeah. Winning every game. Is it possible? If we lose, we seem to work off the premise that we could have won if we had done something else. What if nothing would have worked? We are playing other teams with their own game plan. Where did this belief in people minds spring up that all games are winnable if the right tactics are employed. I doubt there is any instruction a manager could give me, a mid thirties 17 stone man, to beat a wing back. No words of encouragement or positioning can make me run faster than 5mph. I am just suggesting that people might want to consider phrases like "their midfield two played ours off the park" rather than "I said we should have played a three - he's got that wrong". Yes, but we would have been skinned up the wings if we did and lost anyway. Just please a little more humility. Please consider you would make mistakes. Lastly, it's the inept nature of the criticism and its often tiresome repeating of obvious things. Not passing forwards is my favourite. Does this mean hoof it then? If we hoof it, we should have played it on the floor. If a player doesn't play, and he's fairly good, that's why we lost (despite not knowing what's going on for that player - he could be tired but also, low and behold, he might have had a row with the Missis or any nature of issues putting off his game. We don't know, do we, yet we demand his inclusion and claim our Manager is wrong on the basis of a wisp of information. I gues I am saying that a lot of the criticism isn't justified. It's a hangover from the Higgs era perhaps when it was.

A month ago lincoln city should have been at the top of the championship based on the teams they had beaten, then they drew against York and lost to borham wood. Unfortunately this is football and sh1t happens. We are not good enough right now to go up, if we had made the playoffs it would have been fun, but we need another year building first. Chin up; It's been a great 2.5 years since the braintree tipping point.

Now then now then.

...better extend his contract them in case other clubs come in for him next summer, don't want another Taylor fiasco, although id happily drive Moore to Bristol Sport Stadium franchise

There have been plenty of games where the result hasn't been right but the performance was pretty good. Most of the games against the top teams in February were like this. Yesterday however was not a good performance and I think my marks summed this up with only one 7 and the rest 6 and less. People seem to get really worked up of any criticism of some players - criticism of Sincs meets with this mainly based on his enthusiasm and workrate however my main criticism of him is the role in which DC finds a place for him in the side rather than have him battle for a place with Lines and Ollie Clarke. It is my overall opinion that he is not good enough a player to have a regular place but is a good squad member who can come in and do a good job in certain games. The fact I don't think he is good enough does not stop me from saying he is great one week and poor the next. He has had some excellent games but if we are to challenge for a top six place I see him as a bit part player. exactly right and some forget - our promotion push in April/May last season was without Sincs

We have the nucleus of a Confrence side with a splattering of L2 quality, and one or two good quality but yet unproven loanees. Perhaps some are playing as well as they did last season or better, but just don't look so effective as they are not consistent enough at this level. Perhaps some will improve with the experience & development & perhaps some will not. We all have our favourite players & want them to play every game & we all have some players that we are not over keen on & see them as fringe players at best. We only see the tip of the iceberg in the 90 mins on match day & pay our fees to watch & if the team, the formation & the result is what we want, we class ourselves as football management materiial if the team, formation or result isn't what we want, we still class ourselves as football management material & log on to forums to explain what went wrong & provide a sure fire solution to correct things. We used to discuss / moan / provide solutions / argue on the way home or in the Pub afterwards in a small group, but now we can reach thousands by posting our views on forums. We could never agree amongst half a dozen of us, so with a few thousand there's no chance. On these types of threads I often think, did I see the same game or those comments appeared before. Still it's all about opinions, I think that we have had an exceptional season & have full faith in DC to continue to improve the club . We all have a bad day at the office, especially when we are new to the place The league table doesn't lie at this stage of the season you say we've got the nucleus of a Conference side but I assume that because they've played there not because you think they're conference standard surely? otherwise Leicester have got an attack with the nucleus of the conference because Vardy played there ? ]At the end of the day we're what 9th ? so up to this point we've been the 9th best club in league 1. Hardly a conference side. DC has worked wonders in bringing in a few players each season to improve the squad and the fact that we have improved in our league position proves that because like I say the league table doesn't lie.

IMO DC has worked wonders with the budget and players at his disposal, I am amazed we are 9th, I guess when the other teams currently below us play their games in hand, we will finish about mid table which is fantastic, seeing we have not had a goal scorer since the snake went south. We all know had the snake stayed James would not have got a kick. DC knows what he needs and it is know down to WAQ to give him some decent money to bring in better permanent players; however, I am not sure WAQ likes spending money on players, so it is likely we will be either looking for free transfers, kids out of the academies or 12 month loans, which is not a great strategy for getting into the championship. I also have a feeling WAQ might have to spend most of the summer "again" trying to hang onto DC, as well as convince the UWE they should sell him a plot of land below its market value.

Delighted to be be where we are at the moment - did I want or expect promotion this year - of course not and hopefully not next year either if I'm honest. Is there anything I've said in my post which is incorrect? I'm not a 'Rose Tinter' and he will need to do something special in the summer if we lose the likes of Sweeney (likely) & Lumley (maybe) because those two loanees are the only two that have made a significant impact. If you've "heard it all now" you've either lived a very sheltered life or not read some of the hundreds of postings on this site which are far more provocative.

I don't think your being provocative particularly I'm just surprised that you don't think DC has worked wonders to keep us in the top half and pushing for play offs all season after winning b to b promotions. He's done that and he's done that with the squad he's built. Some on here saying we need to ship out half our squad and bring a new half in just don't seem to appreciate how DC has achieved what he's achieved in these last 3 seasons. If he does tear everything up he's built in the summer and ship out half our squad I'll be very surprised and I also think we'll do worse than if he does what he always does.

The display at Coventry Saturday was poor to say the very least, every player failed to turn up , we've missed the play off boat it's sailed without us , it felt like the 1929 Wall Street Crash had happened again ,

Probably made badly, but Yes my point is the nucleus of the team was built to get us out of the Conf & they excelled last season & are doing excellent in L1. For me it proves what an excellent job DC has done with the development of some players. I totally agree on your comments on DC, he has a knack also of assessing position mid season & making the adjustment to improve us in the new year. What some seem to forget though, is that as well as the players have done to meet the challenge of playing in a higher league, DC has also been on a hell of a learning curve too. He seems to put his heart & soul into managing this club, and & whilst everyone is entitled to their opinion, and yes, he gets it wrong sometimes, the predictability of some on here when we have a bad day at the office, borders on the hysterical, with the same opinions such as this player or that player is not L1 standard, why DC doesn't play x player & this formation or that, even suggesting he doesn't want us to finish top 6 - I have said it before that DC will never be forgiven by some for being at the helm when we went down, which is up to them I suppose. I think the Vardy scenario is slightly different in that he didn't go through the leagues with the same club. His undoubted potential was spotted & a club who gambled on him fulfilling that potential at the highest level, similar to Barry Hayles who we plucked from non league. However, people should realise that when players & manager go through the learning curve together, there will be inconsistencies, until they either come to terms with their task or realise they are not up to it. I believe DC is up to the task & we are really lucky to have him & I trust his judgement in deciding which players he can take to the next level & those who won't make it, but am realistic to know he won't get every decision right, therefore I will be able to enjoy the good days & not go into meltdown when we have a bad day at the office. IT does make me laugh when we talk of market value. If you can't get the price, the price is above the market value. The market value will be agreed once the payment is made.

I do find it laughable when people keep talking about Conference players because the only relevant thing in that is the fact they played when we were in the Conference and DC has worked wonders in getting us to where we are now because when he took over we were relegated from League 2- for which John Ward was to blame as when DC took over he could not bring in any players and had little chance of saving us from relegation. I still think that DC was not the man to save us from that fate as it needed an experienced fire fighter at that time who could have brought in a couple of non contract players to turn things around. However we have to look at what DC has done and he has not only got us back to where we were under Ward but has taken us to our highest position for years- A brilliant achievement without doubt. The point I am making is that those Conference players are no longer Conference standard players but are now now mostly basic League 1 standard and what is important now is weeding out those that can't go higher and making some quality signings that can take us higher. Looking at our squad I would say that they should be rated as following Mildenhall- At his prime could go forward with us but is now at the age where he maybe could have a couple of seasons at League 2 or Conference level. Puddy- Now he is a Conference standard keeper who should be released. Lumley- Well capable of taking the step up and would be a fantastic signing if QPR are willing to release but at the moment we don't know. If DC could get him it would be a fantastic signing. Sweeney- Another who would be a fantastic but very unlikely signing who could take us forward and probably will be a great Championship centre half but unlikley to make the Premiership and that is what gives us a slight hope of signing him if we are able to spend some real money. James Clarke - I would say a League 2 defender who I doubt could go any higher than we are now but may be useful to retain as a squad player. Leadbitter, Brown, Lockyer, Ollie Clarke, Sinclair, Moore, Montano, Gaffney, Harrison, Lines, Bodin - All these should now be considered as League 1 standard players who can at least play a part to maintain our current position and could form the nucleus of a side to push us forward with the right additions. Hartley- Probably a good League 2 centre half Burn, Partington, Both could be good enough to push us forward but not seen enough to say. Easter, Mansell - Still think Easter is a League 1 player who could play for another year as a squad player whilst Mansell is a League 2 standard player now who should be released or because of his attitude should be kept on as a coach or potential coach. Gosling Conference standard-Release James Only League 1 or probably 2 standard This assessment IMO shows just how far DC has brought us and HIMSELF on but we have now reached the stage where both Manager and players are at a Challenging level and none are proven above this level. Can DC go on to a higher level? Potentially he could be a future Premiership Manager but what we don't know at the moment is whether when given money he is capable of getting the better standard players which is why I think we will retain his services at least next season.

I much prefer the rough and tumble of a relegation scrap. Yours disgusted, Tunbridge Wells 😂😀
