Dread to think how much they'd cost.

Dread to think how much they'd cost. We won't have to worry about that as we will not be allowed to buy them. A season long loan for both of them would do nicely, thank you very much.

I'd go for that, and stick Hartley up front as he seems more of a goal threat than anyone apart from Bodin these days.
Id say we might have a chance at signing Lumley, but Sweeney cost Stoke £250k (not much to them granted) recently so they wouldn't be wanting him to leave just yet.

Why couldn't we sign him? If that is the cost of players then so be it. We have to spend some money if we want that quality in our side. We will just go in circles if we don't build on what we have. Get theses 2 in and a some decent strikers then who knows.

Problem is when do we draw the line, debts wise, whilst we're still stuck at the Mem, as if we run up anymore debts they'll exceed our assets soon?

If and its a big IF we can get these two in next season on whatever basis and add a dominant midfield player (a bit like the nob JJOT) and a couple players up front -(a stong no messing aerial threat and a sniffer who can find the onion bag on a regular basis - we will be a serious threat to any team in the league next season - I have no doubt.
Spend some money BoD - you'll reap the rewards in more ways than one.
Perhaps we ought to be looking at JJOT I think he's out of contract - I'll put the tin hat on before I post this.

If we made it to the playoffs this season would Lumley and Sweeney be eligable to play for us? This is a good question, does anyone know the answer?

Pretty sure the new 6/12 months loan system this season means they both should be eligible, I can't think of any reason why they wouldn't be as there's no reason the loan periods would end early, as that would then have to apply to all the loan deals.

You need a strait jacket not a tin hat, the old adage never go back is vastly under-rated, but in this case I would probably prefer to disembowel castrate myself with a rusty can opener than see that bloke back anywhere near the club

I wouldn`t have Hartley anywhere near the team. I know he scored goals for us, but defensively he was awful. A major reason we were shipping so many goals before Sweeney arrived. It affected Lockyer`s form too, playing alongside such a liability.

To be honest I never rated Hartley from the beginning and said as much on here, even Plymouth fans were surprised at a L1 side signing him, and imo got themselves a better replacement in Sonny Bradley.
I think Hartley's goals have masked his defensive frailties for some fans.

I tend to agree with the above, what has surprised me is the fact that Sweeney hasn't got on the scoresheet? You would think he would be a real threat from corners / free kicks but as yet nothing, perhaps the deliveries have been worse to him who knows?

Sweeney will start scoring when we sign him up permanently

It could also be the both Lockyer and Hartley play better with a Sweeney type player alongside them . On the games when Rovers have played a back five and just one striker ,having Lockyer-Sweeney-Hartley might work well defensively but also give a very present goal threat on set pieces too.

From Stoke's point of view they will likely want Sweeney to be playing Championship football next season. He has nothing to prove at L1 level now.

If we cant get Sweeney then we should have a look at Sean Raggett for Lincoln. 23 years old, 6ft 5 and playing well below his level
