People will still be saying "He's young and learning" when Ellis is 32.

Ellis' first goal since 4 v Northamptonl - probably a very relieved goal celebration !

People will still be saying "He's young and learning" when Ellis is 32. But he's such a nice guy and just needs time and a bit of coaching.

Ellis has been the same his whole Rovers career, one good game and then the next 10 looking uninterested. How long do you give it? Yes, like when he banged in 10 in the last 12 games of the conference season. I also think he had a good spell towards the start of this season. Ellis is inconsistent, yes, but no more so than Ollie Clarke was until a few months ago. I would keep the faith.

I feel he will keep EH maybe on a rolling 1 year but someone will be sacrificed - surely LJ will be returning with 'thanks but no thanks' so it leaves RG to be released. He puts in more effort than Ellis but IMO does not have the aerial presence - is three or four years older and doesn't score anymore goals than Ellis. On the flip side it might be better for Ellis to move on for his own sake - I feel there is a good player in there somewhere - but just not cracking here. I'm sure they are all great guys to have around the team but it's a ruthless business and it's going to be tough decisions to make and not just on those three.

I'm all for keeping Ellis Harrison - just in case he has an Ollie Clarke moment!
He has too many moments where he switches off, but when he is on his game he is big, strong and powerful. Some of the headers he won on Saturday were top drawer - in both boxes! and his goal was half decent!
More coaching from Marcus Stewart over the next few months and he can mature in to a good centre forward. If we release Easter and don't take James on, then Harrison & Gaffers have to stay surely? Evolution not revolution! UTG.

The final half of the season has shown that the strikers collectively are not scoring enough goals. For Rovers to be promotion or playoff finishers next season the collective strike force needs to score more goals. There is still the Judas vacancy to fill . Easter may or maynot be here next season. So that is potentially another striker needed. Its possible one of James,Gaffney or Harrison may leave or go out on loan for a season.
So its obvious that two maybe three strikers will be signed to keep the squad attack in balance. If two or three strikers arrive the what ifs wont matter if Gaffney/Harrison/James are mostly fighting just for a subs spot to start with.

Get real. If we did we need to improve. That's gonna cost big money. But I haven't seen any signs our owners are willing to do that. And even if they were, you have to persuade said players to come. Easy peasy!!!

Yep...easy peasy...Rovers have been doing it for decades. Not sure why you think big money has to be spent .Don't recall vast fortunes being spent on Hayles,Roberts,Cureton,Lambert,Walker,White, saunders,Beadle, J Taylor M Taylor ,Ipoua ,Ellington ....all signed by rag bag Rovers. DC has managed to sign plenty of strikers so far who did well at the previous levels ,do you doubt his ability to sign a striker or two now ?? Its not like rovers are at twerton park training out of a portakabin at a chocolate factory is it. Don't be such a defeatist.

Wow- the tone on here is tough sometimes.
I asked the the original question about the celebration because It reminded me of the goal against Chesterfield, after DC had lost his gran. I apologise for my curiousity. Frankly, i asked out of concern- hoping that similar bad times hadn't come to another. Regardless- kudos to the team. Many felt the season was over and even if the celebration meant little more than: 'we just scored!' - good on them for wanting a winner that much.

I get the impression some on here just sit down and think of ways to make a post look stupid. You'd never think sometimes we all follow the same club. I've almost had enough of it. But not quite. So no need for a "bye then".

Can't believe people bigging up his heading ability? He's awful in front of goal with his head. He doesn't close defenders down well enough, but he's very good at nearly getting there.
