The confirmed list is: Rotherham Oxford Utd Peterborough MK Dons Walsall Wimbledon Charlton Doncaster Plymouth Portsmouth Really only ten clubs definitely in league 1next season with the rest still got something to play for ? If that's true then that's incredible with only two games left. There will be a lot confirmed after saturday's games. Likely us included. Northampton down to Swindon can still go down. Us up to Bolton can still go up.

I don't see that it can be harder we will have had a seasons experience of this league and we have a squad that has proved itself there. Doesn't really matter who comes in they will be there because they deserve to be one way or the other. We have been one of the best sides this season we just have to continue the way we are going and we will get there.

Think next season depends on how well the promoted sides start, if they get momentum then it'll be about the same as this year.

If we could keep our defensive and midfield squad, including current loan players, and add a striker,we could be motoring. I think Gaffney will come good next Season and if we retain the service of Billy in addition to a really proven striker, we are on for a good season. Regretfully I think Manse, Easter, James Clark, Ellis and Moore might be freed for unlocking some salary monies. What do I know though - nothing, if any go they deserve our thanks because, other than Luke James the striker who has taken a vow of striking chastity, they have been great servants to our club.i And there is the reason that it could be a struggle. Not knocking DC but apart from Taylor he's not brought in a striker that looks anywhere near getting 20 goals in a season. Not saying he won't get one but it's far from a given. I'd also say it's far from a given that DC will be here next season. So I certainly wouldn't be putting my house on a top 6 finish, though I certainly hope we can.

It's going to be tough, but I think it's worth bearing in mind that we are still ahead of schedule as far as promotion is concerned. It would not be a disaster if we had another mid-table finish next year and I don't think we should expect promotion.
At this time, having dragged ourselves back to League 1, it is definitely what happens off the pitch that is far more important than what happens on the pitch. If we get the go ahead for the UWE, budgets and expectations can then change.

if people's assumptions that league 1 is harder next year then by having a basic grasp of how the pyramid system works you are automatically assuming that league 2 and the championship must therefore be easier....
which to be fair is complete twaddle....

I can't see it being much harder than it already is. Big clubs such as Sheff U, Bolton and Bradford whose budgets are twice the size of ours are going up and out of the clubs going down, I would be surprised if Rotherham or Blackburn find life in the third tier easy.
I think Plymouth and Portsmouth will have good season's but it took them a long time to get out of L2. Just because they have large attendances doesn't mean they will do any better than Oxford or Northampton did this year, although I suspect moment may carry them.
Whatever happens there is going to be some great away days and a less northern league!

It might well be tough. We might of course be in the championship.

Now you mention it Div 2 will look a bit easier next year!! The Championship looks a shocker though assuming attendance size does equal wage budget. With it likely 3 of the 5 lowest supported teams: 20 Blackburn Rovers 12.27021 Wigan Athletic 11.59322 Brentford FC 10.328 23 Rotherham United 9.80824 Burton Albion 5.138 Likely to be replaced by the 3 the best supported Div 1 teams by some distance: 1 Sheffield United 21.478 2 Bradford City 18.146 3 Bolton Wanderers 14.5864 Charlton Athletic 11.127

I think we're quite well stocked in wise areas with Bodin, Moore and Montaño.

There's no guarantee Monty will be offered a new contact and if we are going to progress I feel we need better than him. I guess that's one of the things DC needs to sit down and discuss with Wael/SH?

I would imagine DC has already discussed his requirements for next term let's hope he gets what he wants and is still with us at the start of next season🙏

With so much work to be done in the summer there is no way it will be easy. Out of 13 players signed by DC since promotion to League 1 only two of those signings have actually come good to hold REGULAR places - Lumley and Sweeney so why should everybody be so confident that DC will get the signings right? I very much hope he will but am not over confident especially as it will be a tough task to get Lumley and Sweeney let alone start on new players.

It all comes down to is it the usual bristol rovers? Every once in a rare mile we build a decent team and when that team breaks up we invest sweet fa on bad players and our temporary gain is lost. ref tann, megson, francis and trollope. So its all comes down to serious investment in building a squad for the next phase of progress while still using our best survivors from our fab squad or doing the usual rovers thing and spending nothing but hoping the free transfers etc will actually be ok this time Next season will see a new manager in charge and possibly a relegation struggle unless the owner acts asap imo.

Our best league position in 17 years. After that year we got relegated but then lost the core of our squad and pretty much all our goals. Trollope broke up the promotion squad too soon trying to take the next step and that backfired. So the key is steady improvement and not wholesale changes. I cant see DC making too many changes. He has been loyal to most of the squad and whilst a few will be told their time is up he we can trust that he will improve the squad. We need at least two new strikers and unless he really messes up they should do better that what we currently have. The hardest challenge might be replacing Sweeney and Lumley assuming we cant have them back (I think we have a chance to get Lumley back though). As for the season being harder, we should just concentrate on ourselves. I do however look forward to loosing away to Portsmouth again.....
